No, I'm still working on it. Lots of new stuff for 1.7 coming up, I just don't have time to blog about it or w/e.
I think we normally have a release once per 2-6 months. And I aim to have a new stable once per year.

The map is a copy of the one used for ABattleMap's Axis & Allies Global 1940. It is an alternative skin, not the main one. I agree it is a bit/very skewed, but even the board game's map itself is fairly skewed.
1.6.1.2 had sound turned off by default. Now with 1.6.1.4 we have sound turned on by default (because we added a lot more, nicer, sounds, and felt it was finally good enough to be turned on).
I also use Linux Mint, and with the exception of a few small quirks with the windows not always opening to be fullscreen, I have not encountered any problems. Let me know how it goes.
You can check out a full list of changes here:
Triplea.svn.sourceforge.net
And do not forget to update your maps / games!
We were waiting for a more stable release before we brought it to Desura. Anyway, everything should be updated now that 1.6.1.2 is out.
And 1.6.1 has been out for a little more than a week. No major bugs reported so far. I hope to release a stable very shortly (2 more weeks), and if no bugs are reported in it after another week I'll upload it to desura.
I released TripleA 1.6 about a month ago, however it was a beta (unstable) build.
TripleA 1.6.1 should be coming along soon, with tons of new features. Hopefully I can release that by the end of this week or next.
What are you talking about? We do have a Linux version, and it runs on both my linux boxes. You can install through desura's game runner, or use the standalone download, or download the "all_platforms" version from the main website.
???
It is released, and pending authorization on Desura. Should be live on Saturday (April 21, 2012).
Is there any way to have the ship point at where ever your mouse is located?
That would sure make flying, and combat, a heck of a lot easier and fun.....
Risk is on my TODO list, and I really want to play it on TripleA also. However, above it in my list is getting the rules for a new 1940 based map working, and that will probably take a few months.
Hey, just joined the group. I'm the lead developer and manager of the open-source game, TripleA, Indiedb.com
We used to have 4 devs on our team, but the guy previously developing the AI and the Map Making utility has left us. We are now looking for 1 or 2 people interested in coding the the AI and the map maker. The AI is basically done, but needs tweaking and bug fixing, while the map making utility is only 1/3 done.
All the code is Java, and it is nothing complex. Let me know if you are interested...
Dice are dice, so occasionally that kind of thing will happen (and should happen if the dice are truly random). If you do not like having the occasional large variance of 'real' dice, then you can use the "Low Luck" option when playing.
Before starting a game, just click on "Game Options" then make sure "Low Luck" is selected. The engine will then use a different formula for calculating battle hits and casualties, and 8 tanks vs 4 tanks will always result in you winning with 6 tanks left over. (It works by adding up the powers of each unit, and then dividing by 6 to find the number of hits. You roll a single die for any remainder, if there is any.)
New manual / rulebook / tutorial / walkthrough created. It is in PDF form, so you have to click on the downloads section to find it.
Indiedb.com
It goes over all the things you need to know to get started, and includes a 1st turn walkthrough of the default game, Big World.
Very cool fun game. However, it crashes on me any time I do any of the following:
Alt-Tab out of it
Try to change to full screen
Try to change resolution
some other things too....
I would also like it if you could have more than 1 lives. I think 3-5 would be a good number.
Some of the powerups do not seem to do anything, like the shooting-faster ones, while others seem to turn off randomly while others stay with you forever.
Also, my anti-virus does not like your program and asks me if I should run it in sandbox mode (I've tried both sandbox and normal modes, neither changes any of the above things), and Windows occasionally tells me it has prevented some operation from occurring, followed by your game crashing.
I'll give that a shot, and let you know how it goes.
As a coder I understand fully if you don't want to support certain configurations (though you should mention somewhere that you only support computers with actual graphics cards newer than xx date, and a short list of supported cards). Perhaps there is some check that desura can do to prevent people with integrated graphics from downloading/installing.
I'm running a 2011 Intel i5-2435M, which supports Intel HD graphics 3000, including Shader model 4.1, DirectX 10.1, and OpenGL 3.1. I would have thought that would be advanced enough for your needs, since it is technically better than the current crop of game consols.
I seriously hope this does not pass. The idea of being able to take down other people's websites and software, all without showing a single shred of proof or evidence, is horrible.
Downloaded and got it running. However, when starting a game, the textures for the ground do not appear to load. Instead, the ground is black, and you can see the white mesh outline of the polygons of the ground. There are trees, and the unit you start the game with, but nothing else.
I tried messing with the graphic settings, turning everything off that was extra, but that didn't help.
I am running Windows 7, on a brand new Toshiba Portege laptop computer, and am capable of playing other games.
Any help?
I watched the video and thought this game looked most similar to Supreme Commander, at least on first sight.
What RTS, or group of RTSs, would you say Evolution RTS is most closely like, related to, or inspired from?
I want to DL this and try it out, by my Dfesura account won't connect for some reason....
ps: how did you make those tutorials? I really need to make some for my game.....
I'm happy to be developing one of the roughly 65 games that works on Linux. Check us out: Indiedb.com
If you enjoy games like "Risk", or "Axis & Allies", or similar things, then you will definitely enjoy TripleA.
(we are free and open source as well)
TripleA is looking for someone interested in improving our AI (specifically the Dynamix AI). It does well at land battles, but currently doesn't have much in the way of sea movement or transporting of units over the ocean, etc. The AIs are all coded in Java. If you are interested, see this forum: Triplea.sourceforge.net
In other news: We've finished coding a political engine (ie: allowing declarations of war, signing treaties, etc), which should allow for much more interesting maps, as well as greatly improving Free-For-All type of games. We have an unstable released for testing these new features, but it might be a while til we get a stable out since I'm aiming to add more features first.
Ok, looks like it is fixed now for Linux. Please either update or reinstall your linux version of TripleA. Let me know if it works now. (The issue was that desura didn't know what to do with the run script since it didn't start with "#!/bin/bash", even though it was listed as executable. Now it starts with that, and seems to run fine on my linux box.)
I'll have a look into the possible linux issues next week. I admit, while I made sure that desura worked on windows, I never tested the linux version through desura (only tested it through the normal way, of downloading separately).
I uploaded the original video here:
Sourceforge.net
It is a very big download, 340mb, but it is in much higher quality and resolution than the one shown here on desura. The video was of my entire desktop, so that is why the size is so big.
If i upload more videos, I'll put the originals in this folder: Sourceforge.net
thx,
veqryn
Good news, the problem is fixed.
For anyone who's TripleA does Not work, and you downloaded TripleA before September 3rd, Please uninstall TripleA then re-download and re-install it. That will fix the issue and you will be able to play again.
(The problem was that when we first released TripleA we had the "play game" shortcut point to the wrong file, so anyone with the early version would simply get a black cmd window when they tried to play, instead of getting the triplea screen. This is now fixed, just reinstall to fix it.)
Looks like the desura devs decided to publish it using the bat file instead of the exe for the shortcut to run the game. This should be fixed very very soon. Until then, you can always download and install manually to play: Triplea.sourceforge.net
It is waiting approval of the game on desura, will have some images soon.

I am living in Shanghai at this moment. Currently I am one of only a handful of active devs on the TripleA game engine project, and I also create mods/games/maps for it as well.
