This battle was a slaughter of starved and broken men just released from gulags, denied support and pitted against determined and well-prepared enemies, while they themselves were ill-equipped and often lead by some of the worst commanders Polish military history has ever seen (look up Karol "Walter" Świerczewski if you're interested).
In fact, they were a propaganda tool for the communists and cannon fodder for the Red Army.
But what needs to be underlined is that they fought for they country, and most of them did not share the political views of their superiors. Some of them used to say that it was the only way to escape the "inhuman land" and go back home.
Prayers for their memory. And thanks to FH2 team for bringing this piece of Polish history to life.
