Vassalage sounds a bit like pyramid selling ?
As a vassle will you be able to 'sub-vassle' lands or will it be a strict 2 tier arrangement with everyone being lords or vassles? Am I right in assuming the 'sub-vassle' model?
If you can 'sub-vassle' (I really need to find a new term for that) the King at the top will own the land - and passes some land to his vassle the Duke who then in turn passes some land to his vassle the Earl etc. so now a Viscount is managing the Kings land on a day to day basis owing his allegiance to his lord the Earl.
Then the Duke turns out to be deviant - he runs off and marries the Kings pet penguin or somesuch, the King understandably upset wants all his land back - they can live in a happy Duke-Penguin idyll if they must but not on his land.
The Viscount is going to lose land he's managing well to a vengeful King he's never met due to the action of a deviant Duke he's never met.
Is this how it would work? It seems somewhat harsh.
(I'm thinking this isnt how it will work, but am interested to know what the setup will be)
