A torpedo having been activated right after launch. It does use its own sonar to detect potential targets and chooses a target to lock on based on noise profiles.
This is what it looks like when the sonar sweeps over another object, in this case another submarine. Part of the suspense comes from not knowing whether it's just a rock formation or an enemy sub in hiding.
One less game for me to make myself. This is a great idea. Thanks for building it. :)
And how do you plan on licensing the game engine? Kickstarter?
Looks like a very ambitious game and highly interesting. I downloaded 0.2.1 and played around a bit. One thing that I noticed was the frequent loading pauses in the game (to load zones, I assume?), which can be bothersome after a while. Oh and the game crashed for some reason. Are you interested in crash logs to be emailed to you?
Looks interesting but I'd like to see a free demo first. Any chance of that?
I think his point is that an action does not have to be unlawful to be annoying. People can easily ruin your immersion in a game in many different ways. The only solution I know for that would be allowing people to run their own servers and invite/ban whomever they want. Kinda like MUDs policing their own userbase, or setting up your own NWN server. But then of course it would be a MO game, rather than MMO. Which might not be a bad thing!
Fully in support of curbing any potential Cockrisers. Good foresight. :)
Hey guys, the game looks gorgeous. I have one little suggestion though: a little summary of game features and what you are looking to accomplish with the final game would really help me to understand whether I want to play the game or not.
I know they might already be in the forums, but then again I was asked to sign up for the forum just to read it, which is one unnecessary extra step for your audience to cross in order to understand what the game is all about. So make it easy for us to love your game! :)
Great to see this has been coming along nicely. It's right up there along with Salem on the list of MMOs I'm looking forward to. Keep up the great work!
Btw, on the issue of funding the development, have you considered crowd funding through Kickstarter or something along those lines?
Sounds like an interesting concept. I would be interested in play testing this. What do you think the system requirements will be?
Looks interesting. The use of scientific jargon could use some help, though (i.e. I guess you mean the sun's gravitational pull rather than magnetic?)
