cl_maxfps 60 in the console if you want 60 fps limit. fov 90 in the console if you.... These could be added in the options menu, but I was thinking that people are familiar with normal Quake2 cvar's

In my opinion, 1 hit kill with the knife is not a good idea. Mabuse, are you using the original Q1 hitbox for hit detection? I would like to see locational damage or even better - per poly hit detection.

Well, these test maps actually are looking good. Make a mixture of them and you'll get the 1st map. Also you can use these vehicle prefabs Ddaydev.com The readme said they are free to use (as I remember). I still have the textures for the prefab on my hdd. I'll upload them if you want.
Why instead flare gun you don't code a flamethrower. Well the repeating flame sprite may slow down the game but it is more spectacular.
If it's gone be console game, I think the hit bounce and recoil should be reduced.

I'll be realy glad to see PC version of the game, because I don't have PSP. I'm really happy to see that huge progress in Q1 modding.
The overheating guns is great idea.But if you add realistic recoil will be even greater.
