Good mod, mapping is very well done although I was getting a few of the client renderables overflow messages popping up. I didn't find low health to be much of a problem, but the lack of hud did get a bit annoying after a while. Should probably let players choose whether they want no hud or not.
"Chapters" were just individual maps though, so no coherent set of things happening, just a set of different maps to play through.
Cremator was pretty slow and kinda un-interesting to be around though, would've liked to have to fight and kill it rather than just avoid it.
Overall, well done though!

It looks great, although I'm not sure if I'd want a DoF effect like that running throughout the entire game, it could get a little annoying in some situations. Will there be an option to disable/enable it? Or will that need to be done with console commands?

Unfortunately this didn't solve the issue. It seems that after installing the expanding fronts mod my normal game is also having colour issues.

EDIT - Never mind, it appears to be an issue caused by my graphics drivers. I get the same thing with AoE2 and Galactic battlegrounds (non-expansion).

Well I had a pretty big issue with this right after install.

Launching the game with the new battlegrounds_x2.exe causes the game's colours to become scrambled (I can provide a screenshot if need be).

Everything else appears to work fine though (I started a game as the republic, and was able to construct the arc trooper facility and there are additional units available in the map editor).

The early download link for chapter 1 does not appear to be very stable. No matter what method I use to download it, my download will drop out after a while needing me to restart it.
Even when using a download accelerator that has resume support, the file always ends up corrupted.
This is beginning to get frustrating as I've attempted to download the game about 5 times now.
Where is the download going to be hosted for the official release?

Cool fire effects either way, I certainly like the way they properly light the surroundings and could potentially be used as torches.

I was just thinking about the somewhat recently released AOE2 HD and imagining how much of a boost an HD "remake" of Galactic Battlegrounds would do for the game. Especially if it also included the new matchmaking and multiplayer system they added to AOE2 HD.

This is coming along so very well!
To be honest I think there were only two things in this video that stood out to be somewhat flawed.
1 would be the voice of the AI, I'm not sure if it's just a WIP voice or closer to what you want as the final but it sounds a little too distorted and computerised in my opinion.
2 would be the constant sound of the camera rotating. I found it began to get quite annoying after about a few minutes, and seemed unrealistic that you could hear it throughout the entire level.
Anyway, coming along awesome. Can't wait for more development news!

Oh man those buildings are excellent. This specific scene reminds me of one in the 2D clone wars animated show when a team of "spec ops" arc troopers were sent down to a planet in order to destroy a large cannon battery.

Yeah I played through it, was certainly enjoyable.

Good points -

-Excellent mapping. The maps were beautifully lit and detailed. I certainly enjoyed exploring them and the industrial theme was very well conveyed.

-Large battles. The fights that took place within this mod were considerably different from others in terms of the sheer number of enemies who would attack you at once. I had to redo a lot of the combat events several times over simply because there were so many enemies to fight. It really kept me on my toes and I found it made the combat feel different from regular HL2, which is good.

Bad points -

-It wasn't obvious enough in some cases where to go. I got stuck at certain areas simply because I had no clue where I was meant to go. Obviously I eventually found the way but it was a little confusing.

-Gunplay is exactly the same as HL2. Now this isn't necessarily bad, but this style of gunplay really has been done to death. I know it was meant to be HL2 themed, but a different weapon set would certainly have been welcome. This is just my opinion though, I'm sure there are plenty of people who still really enjoy the HL2 gunplay.

-No rocket boxes! At some points throughout the game when I required rockets to destroy an enemy, there were never any rocket crates, just small caches of rockets hidden about the place. I have a feeling this was deliberate, as it makes the player search under stressful conditions, however it became rather annoying when there was only one small rocket cache left and I had to spend about 10 mins searching for it whilst being shot at.

Overall I did enjoy it though, it was certainly very similar to HL2, but different enough to still be very entertaining.

This looks absolutely amazing. The only thing that I felt broke the experience a bit is the way the character's hand was constantly extending when he was looking at a usable button. I think it should possibly only extend after looking at the object for maybe a second or so, or possibly only if the player actually uses the object.

They did put plenty of effort in, there are DSP effects like this in the hl2, they're just a lot less noticeable.
