The bloom is really bright in this map, yeah. I didnt put a skyline or lots of things in the background and those will make the bloom much less obvious. Also, the sky is a bit bright too, if i make it duller then the bloom will be less noticable ;)

This isnt a real level, I was just testing some texture and bloom features :P The inside area was just an afterthought and yeah it looks rubbish and really low detailed (you can tell by the fact the walls are just one face with a texture slapped on!)

The video is low res, in game the textures are all 512x512. I think the textures work alright on things like outside walls:

These are just 1 face with a basic texture stuck on, so I think they look alright for the most basic a wall can be :)

But yeah, I think they look better for little detailed things like crates and boxes:

Yeah you are right :( I'm going through and de-bumping the signs. It doesn't take much time to do and looks 100% better ;) Thanks for spotting that!

The zoom thing only goes a bit screwy on the max resolution. It seems to work fine on all the lower settings though, I dunno why?

Looking great man! Glad to offer the 'moral support' :D Maybe add some yellowish fog, so it looks dusty? I find its great for making maps look bigger than they reallly are (it adds depth) ;) Keep it up!

Heya, thanks for the reply :) Which first person effects are you referring to? The view bobbing up and down when you move?

I understand what you mean, but in the full game it isnt as noticable and combines with the other effects such as blur and things splattering on the screen like blood and rain to make it more immersive - it makes the game a much more hectic experience in firefights.

Also, most of the time you are moving slowly using cover (the bobbing only really happens when you are running) and works well with the gun animations.

hehe, thanks for the comments; its a bit bare in this video, but its much more detailed now. The ground needs re-doing though because its way too flat ;)

It isnt really meant as a 'showcase' of features, but the map includes a lot of the new ropes and cables that are a really cool addition, plus some of the surfaces like the windows and a few floors have a new 'shine' though thats more of a modification on an old feature.

When I finish this area, I'll give Sysop a higher resolution video to post if he wants.

I've just added a quick tutorial on the AM forums on how to do easy seamless terrain: Am.half-lifecreations.com

Hope that helps!

Hey, yeah making the textures fit like that is really easy using the vertex manipulation tool.

Im thinking of posting a video tutorial on the AM forums, it shouldnt take long. I'll try and do it tomorrow ;)

Oh i think i misread your post - you dont browse your own computer using the OS, we create a simple 'fake' OS that you can browse and we make up all the files that are on the computer, you dont have to navigate through all your mod folders trying to find the right one! That would be a bit silly :P

Having seperate text files isnt a problem, because they are all tucked away in a small folder in a subdirectory of the mod. Deleting them wont happen, and if you start deleting random folders in your mode (like say your map, models or DLL folder) then you shouldnt be surprised if your mod stops working :D

From a mappers point of view this system is incredible, because you can use it to trigger entities (like for example, doors, cameras, level changes) so you can pretty much do anything in the game through the computer. Plus you can read text files, look at photos, play sound files. This is some pretty powerful stuff and can add great background flavour for missions (such as photos of targets/overhead satellite images/documents etc).

One thing i think this will be best for is when you want to have 3 or 4 buttons, like say 4 cameras, in 1 place.

I think most computers will be simple to use - like a camera computer will have the camera links on the desktop and the documents will be locked, or have nothing of value in.

lmfao, a harsh, if accurate answer! If you join the forums and ask if you can apply for voice acting it would be most appreciated. You can send a private message to Sysop, the creator of the mod, and express your interest in the mod and he will get back to you :)

Hi l0d1z, The song for that video was just a random free one that youtube recommended because the video had no sound. Sorry but I can't remember the name of it, I just thought it fit so bunged it in :P
