I am in fact working on this game. I took a pretty decent break so don't expect a release anytime soon but I'll keep posting stuff on Youtube.

yes I know the desert texture doesn't go with the grass. I had simply placed it there because this map is so early in development that there is no barrier.

For some reason, it won't let me remove the first page. It will only let me remove the demo inside of the mod page.

I changed a lot of the story & gameplay of the mod to the point where I thought that I should redo it. the images there are just placeholders because I am still experimenting with goldsrc tools and don't really have a lot of maps aside from the first chapter.

Okay, there was a lot to unpack here.
Here are some problems I had (I have just began modding as well so take everything I say with a grain of salt)

1. It seems you haven't added any lights to indoor maps, which results in a fullbright mode. Use light_enviroment (entity) for outdoor maps and change the lighting a bit.

2. Transitions weren't good, the best way to do a transition is to have a small piece of the next map be visible, and then transition. It looks way better.

3. Too many zombies on the outdoor maps, I know your probably going to say "skill issue" to that but I have completed half life before. Smaller zombies in small amounts is better than large zombies/small zombies in large amounts. I ended up using godmode to complete it

4. Not enough weapons. I tried playing the game with godmode off and I got obliterated as the larger entities require more powerful weapons, while in the beginning you only get a pistol, crowbar, and the smg.

5. View Distance. If your using Jack (if your using half life sdk hammer please switch immediately! It literally sucks.), go to Map > Map Properties > Max View Distance and set it to 8096, I noticed that on the outdoor maps some of the map wouldn't load and this is probably the issue.

Overall for a first time mod I enjoyed it. Just please fix these problems for your next mod.

I agree. I haven't had time to really use my computer so I had to really rush this. I have the first chapter almost done and a basic idea for all the chapters so I think I could get this mod done within 1-2 months however it's nowhere near the release date I hoped for. Also, this AWOL map wasn't meant for the mod, I had quickly realized when starting development that I didn't really have anything presentable for a demo (I started in early may), I had a map that did fit the description of the "AWOL" chapter, so I added more features (the apache used to be more enemies which I had learned from other mods that it wasn't a good thing).
