Yeah, got both client and server going on my end. Doomseeker did want to update before I got things working; couldn't hurt to try that. On the join side, I had Doomseeker set up a testing releases directory separate from the brutal dir (configure/engines/zandronum)...don't think I did anything else.
There are a few open servers you could try connecting to! Hopefully a coherent guide comes out sooner rather than later.
Yeah I had that too; I think that means it's loading it from the skins folder then loading it again since it's mentioned as required--I'm guessing a bit, I'm new to Doom MP.
Need to pull the files in the skins folder one level up (the game's base directory) on both the server and client--but keep track of what they are (bd64v1_main.pk3, bd64v1_maps.wad, ZD64MUSIC.pk3). Start the server in doomseeker with those as required additional files.
If you want to player singleplayer again, either put them back in the skins folder or (better?) get ZDL (https://zdoom.org/wiki/ZDL) and make a profile with them.

Oh how my eyes widened the first time my pawns jumped over the enemy pike wall and did short-range damage to his king. :)
I love how each part of the falling process gets its own step number.
Wow, now that was a damn unique experience! :D I actually found a sleeping blindfold and put it on to enhance the experience.
