Is the purchase sidebar mixed up? The "special" edition comes with nothing according to the sidebar, and the regular has a whole bunch of extra features. I'm happy to buy the more expensive one, but what exactly am I buying?

I bought it as they had the demo for Linux. Seems that it won't show up in the games list, but is downloadable through the sidebar.

Desura doesn't seem to recognize Linux as a supported platform for this game as it is missing the Penguin icon next to the "Buy" button. If I buy this through Desura will the game be installable on Linux? Or perhaps there is only an external installer, no updates via Desura?

It's Gentoo 64bit. I've got multilib enabled. I just realized that I could try unmasking ~x86 for libjasper in /etc/portage/package.accept_keywords and rebuild. I tried it and it worked! (I really wish that was in the Gentoo 64bit FAQ). So looks like there's no need to include another shared lib for Gentoo after all.

Thanks.

Looks like a shared lib is missing. I get this when trying to run on a 64 bit Linux.

./SalvationProphecy: error while loading shared libraries: libjasper.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

From ldd, that appears to be the only library missing.

32bit GL libs must be the same as the 64bit ones, so I had to install the NVIDIA 32bit GL libs, as I am using their driver. So if you aren't using the defaults, you may need to run something like:

pacman -S lib32-nvidia-utils

It replaces the lib32-libgl package, so if you have lib32-libgl but not libgl, then that's part of your problem.

I hope this helps someone else.

Mine crashes with a wine page fault on start. Also on Arch Linux. I'm not yet sure what the problem could be. Do you remember doing anything special, maybe to your wine install? It's a fresh install, so maybe I've got to run winetricks, or disable wine WOW64. I post again if I figure it out.
