It's actually quite different from Plants vs Zombies, it's a lot more puzzle than just tower defense. To upgrade units, you have to place 3 of them in a row or column, but that means you're now only occupying one square instead of 3, so you have to be careful not to leave any rows unguarded. You get new units when one of your units dies or when one of the enemies is killed, but they're always the level 1 units and it can take a bit of work to get 9 of them together for a good, strong unit (If an upgraded unit is killed, it only drops a lv1 unit, so you have to be careful about that, too). It's pretty fun, but it gets challenging very quickly!
