As for shiny\shading. It's matter of personal taste. Textures are being adapted to match original YR lightings. I am not saying those are perfect, but we like it for ourself. We will eventually release all source models and textures, for anyone who think he can improve those.
You CAN'T set up Helipads like in C&C1/RA1/TS. RA2 changed a way how Aircraft types behave in general in attempt to make it look more similar 'planes' rather 'helicopters'.
Idea is in Aircraft building time bonus for each separate landing pad. It turned that Nod start having an advantage as building more pads increased speed of aircraft production.
Also, unlike in TS, you can't build Aircrafts if you out of landing space. And having AirportBound=no wont allow Aircraft to land on pads.
Mod is not dead. But moddb page are always being updated as soon as we generate enough new content.

Cities are pefect place for ambush. No garisoned art, no auto-acquire on garisoned buildings(just retaliate fire). In general UC will be a different from YR and close to CnC3.
No. This is just for decor. There will be no specific art for occupied structures
