This is a game type I just came up with this morning. Now it may not completely play the same way as the game we all played as kids. The Aircraft Choices: There could be two map types: The Goal: Once a Minnow is shot down, they become a part of the Shark team (excludes being shot down by the defenses of the base, in which you would return as a Minnow). Once all targets at the base are destroyed, or all Minnows/Sharks are shot down, or the time limit (10-15 min. max) has been reached, the game ends. |

Sounds like fun. But. What's preventing veteran pilots from using dem FB-22-2s and FB-35s as multiroles, and attempting to engage sharks? They're scarily well-suited for that, after all. Are Missiles locked away from Minnows? If so, then, I'd say there's something interesting to this, beyond attack-defend. Unless, that defeats the point. I would never know. |

Well my intention is that the pilots flying the planes under the Minnows would have limited missiles to defend themselves with. After all 3 out of the 4 planes are subsonic. The Sharks would have the ability to fly interceptors and fighters which puts the Minnows at a slight disadvantage already. Their advantage lies mainly in stealth. I might go with a less AA suited FB-22 and maybe see what other version of FB-35 there is that is less suited to AA combat. If anything I just realized that from all the news posts, I can't gauge which variants are better suited to AA capabilities in both missile count and relative maneuverability (other than the ones explicitly stating they aren't maneuverable). I don't have access to the Alpha, so I wouldn't know the counts on weapons. If I were to eliminate AAMs from the Minnows, there would have to be a counter balance on the Sharks side as well like having them have less maneuverability while having greater speed or some other factor being changed (which I think can be done with keeping the Sharks aircraft as 3rd generation interceptors rather than including early 4th generation aircraft). |
