"SUPER DISTRO" is a hard-as-nails (Seriously, Who comes up with these idioms?) 2D platformer in the style of retro games such as Megaman, Super Mario Bros 2: The Lost Levels and other such rage-inducing classics. Taking "Difficult gameplay" to a whole new level - SUPER DISTRO is not for the faint-of-heart. You will die again and again. The weak need not apply - Only those who are determined to overcome impossible odds will find victory here and those are the rules of the land in SUPER DISTRO. In the words of a certain sour-tasting character from a popular television show: "We've have it all!"

Super Distro Horizons - Our Nintendo 64 / Dreamcast-Style 3D Platformer is now on IndieGoGo! Think Sonic Adventure meets Banjo Kazooie with the graphics of Jet Set Radio!

Posted by on

In my eyes, The Nintendo 64 and Dreamcast had some of the best games of all time. In particular, Banjo Kazooie, Conkers Bad Fur Day, Jet Set Radio and Sonic Adventure are all games that define gaming in my humble opinion.

Imagine a game that plays like Sonic Adventure, in which you navigate level to level like you do in Super Mario 64 / Banjo Kazooie with the art-style of Jet Set Radio. Sound good to you? That's what we like to call: Super Distro Horizons - Our tribute to Classic Nintendo 64 & Dreamcast platformers.

Super Distro is a 3D Platforming hybrid were currently developing for PC, Mac, Linux, Wii U, Amazon Fire TV, Ouya, Gamestick, iOS devices and Android devices, harnessing the power of the Unreal Engine 4 to bring Super Distro to life!Taking place over many different dimensions, Super Distro has players exploring many exciting and radically different worlds, such as NeoTokyo, A Magical Midnight Theme Park and even a dimension dedicated to breaking the fourth wall (A Video-Game dimension).

Were currently typing away at code bringing Super Distro to life. It's such an ambitious project, but we've made excellent progress and we've turned to IndieGoGo to help secure funds to make the game the best it could possibly be.If that hasn't wet your appetite for Super Distro, how about a list of our favourite features that are currently in development for the project? -

  • Hubworld - Travelling around various stages has never been so fun. Or so rewarding! Explore the Hubworld and find secret areas, hidden treasures and maybe a surprise or two... Currently, we have a main hubworld and two sub-hubs planned! One of the sub-hubworlds are already in the game - NeoTokyo!
  • Level Builder! - One of the funnest part of video-games in my personal opinion is the ability to create your own levels to share with friends, create obstacle courses or just let your creative juices flow and create new and wonderful worlds to explore!
  • Global Leaderboards - Get the best times on one of the games' many stages and post it online for all to see.
  • Multiple Pathways - Just can't beat your friends time on a level? Think outside the box; When you start looking at the bigger picture, things might seem a bit more... Shortcut-ty. You'll also net yourself some sweet hidden extras by finding alternative routes, so get hunting!
  • Local & Online Multiplayer - We're currently developing plenty of extra modes for multiplayer for you to challenge your family/friends/pets at different games based in the Distro universe. Some of these modes include: Race, Battle, Hunt and a whole collection of mini-games inspired by classic and modern video-games!
  • Free Post-Release Content FOREVER - It's a shame this has to be a feature in video-games these days, but if it has to be so, it has to be so.Every single piece of added content before and after launch is free with every copy of the game. This will include extra levels, extra characters, bonus missions, more multiplayer maps and modes. Anything that we can do to support the game post-launch. And it'll all be free. Forever.

Awesome, good luck guys. The world needs more classic 3D platformers. :)

I see you're targeting OUYA. Please consider bringing the game to the Playjam GameStick as well! I'm no developer, but I hear that porting between the two is very easy (in most cases).
