DevLog #1

For the past week, our team decided to polish the current levels with a focus on the visual representation of the current game status and players' in-game progress.

To break it down, we created new UI components to show game status and added new tiles into the scene as a visual indication of in-game progress.

1. UI component for checkpoints

new UI component

2. death messages and effects when the player dies

3. different themed levels to show in-game progress

We also received some feedback during playtesting on guidance levels so we dedicated a new level just to teach players the basic controls.

On top of that, we added an opening animation for better storytelling.

After the playtest session last week, our team was confident that we have enough interesting content to offer the player in about 10-15 minutes. So we decided to focus on making it more enjoyable for anyone to quickly learn the mechanic and fully immerse themselves in the fun of solving the puzzles. Therefore, we spent most of the time polishing and storytelling instead of adding new stuff.

Now that we have the general story established, we want it to be interesting and believable. So our focus is probably still going to be storytelling and worldbuilding. Here are some ideas for the following weeks:
1. Adding facial expressions for the robot character
2. Adding a map between scenes as part of the storytelling
4. Creating a final room with the treasure
5. Maybe an ending animation? [/left]
6. New name for the game that fits the theme
