NICCCEEEEEE
Looks a bit like a Roman era uniform, still pretty cool tho! :D
I'd even say that's why it looks cool! :D
Bannerlord is set 200 years before Warband. Players who followed Warband's lore will recall that Calradia was once an empire, which declined and was supplanted by successor states -- tribal confederations-turned-kingdoms -- much as the Western Roman Empire was supplanted by early medieval states.
It's not hard to think that one of the factions will be based at Roman Empire ( ofc some armors will be diferent but there will be some similarities )
I agree with this
It is a roman Solider but he is missing some gear, he seems like a mercenary for the romans since he's wearing pants.
Can't be a Roman if this isn't set in our world....
Its more of a fantasy roman soldier. But he does have a hamata doubling and has his sword is on his right which the romans also had. He also has a tunic under his mail, and the helmet seems to be some short of a montefortino helmet but with more fantasy in it.
Fairly authentic looking for a late Roman soldier; the late Western Roman Empire's army consisted almost exclusively of Barbarian Mercenaries, Goths, Burgundians and the like. As such, much of their armour was mail, trousers, and oval shields of the like used by Barbarians.
It may be fantasy, but it would not be out of place as a supposition of what a late Roman soldier would have worn
Dendrothoes Lmao "authentic looking" please dont comment if you dont know what a late roman looks like. This is more of a mid imperial or republic era armour uniform, totaly out of place if you are comparing it to a late roman. Shoulder doublings are gone, should have a spatha not a small sword, and they didnt have oval shields more of a round shield verision, neck is way to open he needs to close it with his scarf. Last thing the belts leather / metal strips are gone too, if this is a late roman.
He does have a point its not based on a late roman.
This is very late to your reply. I would like to make clear that I asserted its "authenticity". You are referring to "accuracy". IF the game were replicating the uniforms of Late Roman soldiers then yes, shoulder doublings and spartha would be appropriate.
The primary thing of note here is that this soldier is wearing a uniform that is clearly Roman inspired, and does not have the overlapping strips common to post Marian reform soldiers. Consequently, they were aiming for the feel of a late Roman soldier.
Your advocacy for totally accurate replica of late Roman armour is a ridiculous point because this game is not set in Rome during Late Antiquity; the game is set in Calradia, a realm inspired by European history. By aiming for a similar feel, they aim for authenticity, which is the general feel and atmosphere of the time. Accuracy is the detail you so desire, for which I might add you are looking for in the wrong place.
I appreciate your concern for accuracy in presentation of late Roman armour, but it is very petty to criticise a game inspired by history for getting armour details wrong, not to mention entirely superfluous.
P.S. your point concerning oval shields is wrong. Due to the prominence of barbarian auxilliaries, primarily hired Goths in the Western Roman Army prior to the battle of Adrianople, oval shields were used in abundance in Late Antiquity Roman armies.
Amazing.
Still want some hints about player homes, and personalization if it's avaiable.
And this only increases HYPE haha, but is better to suffer from time to time, instead of a whole year without any notice about game devs.
OI YOU THERE STOP
'By tomorrow our sword arms will ache from over-use!' -Roman Quote. I hope soon our arms will ache from keyboard button clicking!
awesome !!!
Guess twice if i like it, or love it.
I love the late Roman look of these guys, I can't wait to play as a general of the Western Roman equivalent and defend it from the filthy barbarian hordes.
Looks nice. I love the late Roman look of this armor.
