ABOUT FLAT VOXEL
I’m a solo game developer based in Brazil, having previously worked with web-based, mobile and console game programming for some years. Dash Hale is my third and biggest game and, like with the others, I’m doing everything but the music - an electronic soundtrack being made again by Bettina Calmon.
ABOUT DASH HALE
This game comes from an idea I've had for some time - an ironic take on the “save the world” trope, randomly combining enemies and settings typical from the action genre - and an ambitious one - providing an as-yet-unseen twist in a stablished genre, the autorunner, by allowing the player to rotate the game world and affect enemy behavior through it.
This way, it takes the “you never play the same game twice” a step further: beyond the levels being randomly generated, as expected, each one starts by combing enemies and setting in a slot machine. Each setting has some exclusive obstacles, allowing for many different combinations. Gameplay is simple, but deceptively so as it requires the player to explore several ways of manipulating the game world to defeat enemies more effectively. There are also bosses for every level, and a tense chase sequence before each one.
The name comes from the inhale/exhale QTE mechanic that ocasionally allows the player to take short breaks and recover health.
Features
- combat-based autorunner
- controllable game world
- action genre parody
