You wake up in a dark alley, not knowing anything. What has happened anyway? You struggle after the truth and answers. Answers you want to know in the darkness and fear, which makes your heartbeat race like violent blows against your head. Where do "they" come from? What has happened? Are you just turning insane? The time is up; you can't stay there reading your smses forever. It's time to head out and find the answers. Cry of Fear is a singleplayer modification of Half-Life 1 which brings you the horror you've always been afraid of. It's a total conversion of Half-Life 1, which means it uses NO Half-Life 1 content or other peoples' files. It's all made exclusively by the developers. It also uses new gaming styles that you will rarely find in Half-Life mods, such as advanced cutscenes and other stuff that will be revealed at a later date.
Showing off 3 weapons in-game. Animations made by Jordy/Sporkeh.
We're still playing on GoldSource, right? Because at this point I hardly recognize it anymore. Fantastic job, Sporkeh!
People vastly underestimate Goldsrc. Source was derived from it, so as you further develop Goldsrc, you can achieve a number of things.
I mean looking at the latest ESF stuff, you wouldn't think it's HL1's Engine either, but that's just how far removed it is:
Goldsrc can be pushed quite far with the right people using it.
Still, these animations are incredibly good. Seriously, these last few years, devs have stopped good animations all together and use some stock ********. So good job.
Yeah, I'm excited for when some of these mod and indie animators get into commercial projects and studios and start working on AAA titles. 16 year olds with cracked versions of MAX are turning out incredible first person animations which are better than some high end studios.
agreed :D great animations here, really love the firing animations for the TMP.
Those look incredible. Without a doubt the best animations I have seen, they perfectly capture the movements of shooting a gun. The muzzle flash sprites and Simon sounds are brilliant to. I am in awe!
Nice.
The animations really show the weight of the gun. I hate that is ignored in most real games
Some nice animations you got there.
TMP !!!
SO NICE !!!1111
Its all perfect aside from 1 minor little flaw. The Glocks iron sights are not perfectly lined up. The front post is too far to the left and should instead be in the middle between the 2 notches of the rear sight. Just adjust it and it would be perfect.
If you guys ""want"" to go for realism you could also add a very slight movement or bob to the hands while aiming and not moving. The movement would have to be time with the breathing of the player as the chest cavity expanding while a person breaths make slight movements in the arms while aiming.
Least that's the way it is while im shooting my .22 and im just a regular sport shooter :P Only experienced shooters with plenty of time behind a gun can learn to truly steady their arms. Hell snipers fire in between heat beats just to get the perfect shot.
Just my 2 cents ... keep up the brilliant work regardless.
Wow Nice!! :D
Will there be a knock back effect when you use an automatic weapon?
excuse mah language but animations look sick as f**k!
you've really showed your research with muzzleflashes as well. :)
i love the music
Yeah brah, we've been messing with idle movement. There's currently some coded movement, but it's not that visible, considering using animations again.
Amazing animations. I especially love the muzzle flashes and the smoke.
*drool* Awesome!!!
yea, i dont comment that often.. but i need to give huge props to your animator :) gj!
Could we possibly have a youtube upload as well. My net is capped and I can only load videos in youtube :-(
Wow, the animations looks really smooth!
Top notch quality!
I put a youtube link in the description, if you want high quality stuff.
With that second knife grip he will cut his fingers off when try to stub someone
I'm so glad I stumbled across this mod, I can't believe this is only for HL! Impressive work!
Love the music, and I see someone was on firing range. But isn't the TMP bit too soft on recoil?
If you'd tried to fire the TMP ingame you'd get a real feel for the recoil it has, trust me, its hard to control with anything but short bursts :)
I dunno, it's not like it's firing a really powerful cartridge, or is disproportionately light in comparison to the cartridge fired. It looks about right to me.
Different anims for when it's empty and when there's a round in the chamber <3
Amazing. I love it when animators add the little things like full reload and half reloads. Can't WAIT! I reinstalled Half Life MONTHS ago in anticipation of this!
This is the most realistic recoil i've seen in a videogame yet!
Fantastic work you guys!
Very good! I didnt know the "aiming" was available to use, since the source is not new..
Pretty awesome :) i really liked the textures in the first place, but one thing... the hands.. remind me of.. Source hands? i guess :o
ruMpel, umm, sorry for telling, but the knife.. The animations are perfect, but one thing, the swing sound, it sounds like you're swinging a long stick, try to swing a kitchen knife for an example, there are no heavy swing sounds :/ just wanted to help a little so it would be more realistic :) I really respect people that know what they are dealing with.
Respect.

I was "BLOWN" away.
Looks great and natural, I especially love that you added separate anims for condition 1 and dry reload, but that TMP is actually a B&T MP-9.
Ah, good to see my good old friend Muddasheep is still alive... :p
The level of detail in these is phenomenal.
I know i'm about 11 years late but does anyone know anything about "Sporkeh" or any social media he might have? all accounts I could find of his have been offline or banned for many years.
