The months passed faster than we had planned. Looking up from our screens it struck us: it's already April and we haven't posted any news for ages.
A lot has changed since our last sign of life. The team is larger, the office brighter, CLARK's story is intricate enough to fill a whole shelf, the levels are more colorful, the enemies more deadly and the drones are dumber than ever!
To get a glimpse of the new CLARK, here's a short cut-together of level 3:
is this the same engine that borderlands is created on? looking good keep up the good work.
Are you new to this site?
lol no i just forgot that you could see what engine was being used by looking on the right, sorry very noobish of me.
Thx. To answer your question: We use the Unity engine with the cheapest mobile unlit shaders only. There is no cell shading at all. However the textures are somehow painted using our home-made filter scripts (and love). We generate the outlines by adding real 3D polygon geometry as this method is more precise then outline shaders. Extensive use of lightmaps allows us to add the colorful gradients. Felix, our lead 3D-designer, is going to upload a tutorial video detailing our worklow soon.
Love the soundtrack! Any chance of it being available somewhere? Looking forward to seeing how this game develops.. One thing though - typo @1:34 , there is a word missing :)
hehe, yes i've noticed sligtly AFTER i rendered the video. ;) i'll forward the compliment to our audio-guy. he'll be pleased to hear it! :) there's not yet a soundtrack, but we're working on it!
Dangerdane - this is Unity Engine. You can find the engine for a project on the top right (in the Profile). Borderlands was made with Unreal Engine 3. It's a similar style, which is probably a shader. You still have to paint materials to look this nice, though.
I really like this game and its design too ^^
oh okay thanks for the feedback ;)
Looks awesome, love the grid based movement.
thanks man!
I like that you incorporated the storyline! So far it's looking really nice!
