The colonization ship «Volat» veered off course and suffered a crash. Instead of a world suitable for comfortable living, part of the crew found themselves on the harsh planet of Ash, which orbits an aggressive wandering star. To prevent the planet from becoming a grave for the entire crew, it will require skillful application of technology, prudent allocation of severely limited resources, and simply the will to survive.

"Beware of Light" is a story of survival for a highly advanced human civilization in the merciless climate of a dead planet. All your memory banks are irreparably damaged by the crash, the site lacks fossil resources, and the last water evaporated from the surface hundreds of thousands of years ago. Only the will to live and ingenuity can help you survive on Ash – a planet where there is never dusk or shadow.

Extract hydrogen from the troposphere and create water in explosion reactors. Extract basalt from rocks and melt it into granules for building structures and threads for weaving fabric. Grow your food in laboratories and bioreactors. Tame the power of the star and create a society entirely built on solar energy.

Ash is a dangerous place due to its constant climatic surprises. Just when it seems like you've managed to establish water production thanks to atmospheric probes, it sends its curses at you in the form of storms. Despite being a dead planet, Ash is full of mysteries, and the wandering star has peppered its depths with artifacts, which it has drawn to the surface for millions of years. Random comets, debris from distant planetary systems, and perhaps something else that's hard to come up with a rational explanation for. Every expedition to Ash is a perilous adventure, but valuable finds justify the curiosity.

Contacting the colonists' home world is out of the question. Sending distress signals is pointless; nobody will come to help. The colonization ship is damaged but not destroyed, hanging somewhere in high orbit. Perhaps this is the only hope of escaping this hell and continuing the space journey. But to make this crucial decision, you will need to travel a long path, full of challenging trials and unexpected discoveries.

Beware of Light is an RTS that falls into hardcore city builder subgenre, much like “Frostpunk” and “Ixion”. Your goal as colony commander is to ensure survival of your people on a barren world orbiting a hyper luminous red supergiant star. While being a bountiful source of energy, a star cooks the planet as it slowly drifts towards the fiery doom. You have crash landed with bare minimum supplies and a skeleton crew. The planet, Ash - as you called it, is long dead and devoid of any resources - water has evaporated and any extractable resource is buried under kilometers of sand. You have to improvise: create your water by mixing hydrogen and oxygen, weave your cloth out of rock, and concentrate carbon for plastics out of the atmospheric CO2.

We are committed to maintaining a 99% scientific accuracy in our narrative, that’s why we are not planning on using non-existent technologies, such as FTL, AIs or any other “standart” sci-fi trope. Instead, we believe that the Universe itself as it is is frightening and charming and current science achievements are as cool as any hyperdrive can get.

Ship

Dealing with lack of technologies is one of many aspects of our brainchild. While dealing with extremities of the environment, you must explore Ash to find other survivors and brave strange wilds shaped by an unusual parent star. Soon you discover that you are standing on a corpse of an ocean world, dried by the unbearable heat of Thorne-Zytkow Object, one of the most violent stellar objects in existence, followed only by a few other astro-colossi.

Calamity

Those discoveries are bearing their toll on the mind of your crew, forcing you to deal with different social aspects of extrasolar expeditions, crisis management and maintaining order throughout the colony. Different groups with their agendas sprung out of nowhere, as new discoveries shatter your understanding of the universe.

World map

Your mission is to gather your people, inspire them and somehow leave this forsaken world while dealing with deteriorating conditions. The game has one single campaign with multiple outcomes and your choices really matter. A single decision on what to grow first in your hydroponic vats can have dire ramifications later, being it a compound effect over a long time or hidden switch in NPCs behavior.

Tornado

We are poised to offer 30+ hours of campaign playtime with high replayability potential plus survival mode with procedurally generated content. Mods and user-generated content support are also one of the main aspects of our product.
