Job description
Lead Game Designer

Company Overview:

We live in an exciting new time. All the tools to create are at our fingertips and more accessible than ever. We no longer need S-class production studios to create stunning work with our passion. The big-name studios increasingly create games that exploit the player base (and the devs/artists!) and water down mechanics.

Clevrer is an ambitious and innovative game development company working on an exciting PvP Arena project the likes of which will throw a wrench in competitive gaming. We are merging the best elements of our favorite MMORPG mechanics with a more accessible Arena fighter.

The Project:

This will be an up to one-year project to create an arena game for pre-release on Steam. The project is narrowly focused on creating two complete playable character types in one environment in a 1v1 battle. Think of it as Elden Ring meets WoW Arena...

Development needs:

A talent tree system with two specializations--one melee, and one magic.
A PvP combat system.
A movement and mobility system.
A resource management system (stamina/mana).
Targeting, hit detection, and collision.
A matchmaking system.

Available Position:

Lead Game Designer: You will play a crucial role in the crafting of captivating gameplay mechanics, level design, balancing, contributing to ability/spell assets, prototyping, UX, testing and bug fixing, and design documentation.

Requirements:

Experience as a Game Designer in Unreal Engine 5.
Strong passion for gaming, PvP, and the fantasy/sci-fi genres.
Strong understanding of game mechanics, systems, and player engagement principles.
Experience in designing and implementing gameplay mechanics, abilities, and combat interactions.
Proficiency in level design, balancing gameplay, and prototyping.
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively communicate with cross-functional teams.
Passion for gaming and staying up-to-date with industry trends and innovations.
Creative problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude toward challenges.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet project deadlines.

Nice to have:

Experience in designing multiplayer games, especially in the Arena or other PvP genre.
Familiarity with action combat systems and character movement mechanics.
Knowledge of scripting languages such as Blueprint or C++ in Unreal Engine 5.
VFX or animation skills to implement design ideas.

After this project is complete:

If you choose to stay with the team, we will be adding:

  • An elo system.
  • A lobby system.
  • Socialization features (lobby and game chat).
  • Three additional character types.
  • A character creation system.
  • 15 additional classes (talent specializations).
  • Additional arenas.
  • Expanding team sizes to include 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5 combat.
  • Creation of a system of in-game rewards that can be used to level up your gear.
  • Creation of a system to purchase cosmetic items for your characters.
  • Eventually leading up to the creation of battlegrounds with 10v10/25v25 and if it takes off, even a massive army vs army with as many as 200+ player involvement.
  • And much more…

Application Process:

Please send your inquiries to our email and we will be in touch promptly.

Note:

While this is a volunteer-based project, we have interested investors and will also be submitting for crowdfunding. If we work hard and produce a quality product, this will become a long-term position.
