Some of you may remember EXOR Studios as the team behind the mod D.I.P.R.I.P. Today we are proud to announce that for some time we have been working in our secret lab on a new game. As you might have already noticed the big header above, the game is called Zombie Driver. As the name suggests there are zombies and there is driving in the game. The goal is to rescue survivors from a zombie infested city... No it's not just an excuse for killing innocent zombies! Well... maybe it is... :) but they are not innocent, they are zombies and they are evil!!!
To help you with the task you will have a number of fully upgradeable and totally different vehicles to choose from, plus a variety of weapons from miniguns to double mounted railguns. You can check out the screenshots in the media gallery and watch this short debut trailer featuring a zombie city "rescue mission" :)
To all of you interested in modding ;) the good message is that Zombie Driver is based on the Ogre3D engine which is open source and we are using most of the standard Ogre file types. As soon as the game is released you will be able to do your Mod Magic :)
A bit more info about Zombie Driver can be found on the Zombie Driver web page and we would be more then happy to hear what you think about the game, please let us know at our forums or here at Moddb. We are reading all comments so if you have some ideas or things that you would want to see in the game please let us know!
More info and media will be coming soon...
Oh my! So you guys are back again! This looks mighty polished! Good job!
Damn this game looks wicked! :)
And the graphics astonishing! :O
awesome.... i love top down racers and well violent ones (I lost a great deal of my life to carmagedon!)
this looks sweeeet!
I've just in the last few days got back into Carmageddon 2 and that was my first thought on seeing this trailer! Hope this is as good as it looks!
Holy. . .
Looks great guys.
Nice to see some projects using the OGRE3D engine. I've used it myself, and its a fair decent engine.
Good choice of an engine indeed!
This actually looks like my kind of game!
This looks sweeeeeeeeeet.
This game looks ******* awesome!
Amazing graphics and effects, the only thing that I can see being a downfall is repetitiveness. Make something that would make people WANT to keep playing this for countless hours of their lives.
Can't wait to see what develops.
Looks very impressive and you can definitely tell that the developers of D.I.P.R.I.P were behind it, the whole style and looks are very similar.
Wish you guys luck with the project!
Haha this looks awesome! Fun concept, I really hope that the rescueing part will be enjoyable because killing zombies alone gets boring in the end. Can't wait to try this out, keep up the good work! :)
I hope someone adds more realistic zombie hitting sounds as a mod :P
It looks good, will there be a map / quest editor or modding tools? It seems like there probably won't but it would be neat. It looks amazing though. There are a lot of projects coming out using the Ogre3D engine.
The entire map is currently done in 3DSMax, but that could as well be any other package as Ogre has exporters for almost any modelling package. We are using some custom tools that we created and we hope to make them available after the project (as soon as we make them more friendly to use). A lot can also be changed with the game scripts.
This looks sooo effing awsum, seriously... but im just as concerned as others about repetitive boring play after a while, what is your plan to avoid this? and will this be available for Linux?
Ps. I wanted to report this game for being too awsum (a prank) lol, but unfortuanately they dont opt for querying a reason why i reported it =\
We can't confirm a Linux release at this point though it is technically possible. In terms of repetitiveness stay tuned for further news explaining more about the game :)
Looks good...as a mod ,id download it, but as a game, sorry to say i wouldnt buy it, my main concern is the repetitiveness of such games.
I get bored with this type of game fairly quickly....reliance on mods is'nt a good thing.
Are there plans for co-op? What exactly do you plan to do to avoid repetitiveness.
If you could get out of your car GTA style with co-op freinds and search buildings, that'd be pretty epic.
This looks great!
I do agree that replay value should be a focus for you since you want to keep people playing.
My 3 suggestions are making some large and challenging bosses and incorporating some kind of co-op. Also maybe make it so you can use your mouse to aim where the guns shoot instead of them always shooting in front of you. That would add some challenge and intrigue to the controls as well allow changes in level design and more variety.
Some other ideas are jumping in my head but I am at work and should be fixing a laptop that some idiot spilled coffee on :(
And I'd really like to see if parked cars would be lifted off the floor when they exploded (just a thought ;)).
not bad.
it's definitely necessary to add first person!
as well as an objectiv...how can you "die" in this game?
I think repetitive play issue is easy to overcome. car upgrades, missions etc. Anyone ever play the game "ironman" (car racing game) back in the day. Or even RC Pro Am... both basic games but the re-playability was immense (at least for me)
runs so smooth! I didn't know Ogre games look that nice. Would make a good dlc-game, don't you think?
That is AWESOME.
old fasion GTA style with zombies sounds fun, especially if theres multiplayer and possibility of different game modes... Coop seems to be interesting if this can work...
Yah! Its almost Carmaggeddon... :)
Kiddin', but still, good job lads!
Or Death Rally but more snadbox-ish and zombie-ish :)
You have absolutely no idea how happy and excited I am for this game. I agree with some others that you should focus on replayability. Possibly some pimped out bosses or something, that contribute to a new car or new weapons. Maybe they've got car parts and weapons stuck inside them from when other people have crashed their pimp-my-ride cars into them, or maybe they eat cars, or something insane. It looks pretty stylized and fun focused so you can probably go insane with the ideas. Co-op would also be FANTASTIC in this type of game, especially if you have co-op (so you and friends can go around together) but you also integrate a competitive aspect INTO the co-op.
Beautiful graphics, mad old school fun.
Just 2 quick questions, is it going to be free, if not how much will it cost? and is Zombie Driver the working title, or the final title?
HELL YEAH!!!! Cars? Nice! Destructive? Cool! Zombie? Awesome!!!! Hope this game will be F**KING BOMB!!!
This really reminds me of Carmageddon 2000.
However, you guys have outdone yourselves in the visual department. VERY nice. Looks like a blast.
Seems..mindless.
Lol, I'm intrigued. But just curious, is that all you do is drive around and haplessly slaughter hundreds upon thousands of zombies? XD
AWESOME! This looks just like DIPRIP! But with ZOMBZ! 8x Better! :D
Well Game seems awsome i like cars i like zombies i like big guns. And ofc i like to MOD
Im 120% sure we're going to mod this game. Hope there will be 3ds max 9 or higher plugins.
