Presenting general changes made to the game in version 0.9 (from 0.8.9b).

Items

  • Heroes now have independent item slots for necklaces and belts. All existing items updated
  • Implemented item durability system (can be turned on/off via an option at the player’s discretion)
  • Implemented upgradeable items system
  • Random item algorithm first chooses a random item type then rolls for rarity. This ensures there is an equal chance of finding a sword, shield, helm, bow etc.
  • Health potions now heal 100+50HP per keep level (was 50+10HP per keep level)
  • Fixed bug where items in your hero’s inventory’s dialogue chest area could be duplicated if it was still open at the time the game ended
  • Any item removed from your hero when entering a multiplayer lobby will now provoke the opening of the item stash (was only if the item couldn’t go back into the stash)
  • Fixed bug where item curses that spawn Imps were spawning more Imps than intended during multiplayer games
  • Fixed bug where item chests could be opened and then locked open by Ice Incarnates
  • Fixed bug where the newly added items for 0.8.9b were being banned from multiplayer
  • Item crown value is now displayed in the item popup box
  • Planar Harvester now spawns neutral daemon lairs instead of casting Call of the Wild
  • Added 39 new items, many with new, unique abilities, and 13 new un-equipable items which can be sold at shops
  • In the set item list, items you have equipped are now written in green
  • Added new item set Song of the Elusive composed from Fey Harp and Fey Cloak
  • Added new item set The Inquisition composed from 9 new Inquisitor themed items.
  • Fixed bug where critical hit item powers would only activate in melee
  • Misc items that cannot be equipped can no longer be cursed or contain appended personalized text
  • Fixed bug where players could illegally switch items around on their hero through the scenario lobby’s item stash
  • Updated the following item sprites: WBC2 Gold/Diamond Ring,
  • Adjusted all armor/resistance values (to accommodate the new system). This also means that some items give elemental armor instead of the resistance stat

  • Staff of Pyreakon now gives access to the Fireball spell and gives 3 points of Destruction instead of giving the first two spells of Pyromancy and casting Fireball on attack. Description adjusted
  • Ring of Fire and Ice now has a 1% chance of casting Fireball or Ring of Ice on attack (was 2% for either)
  • Hammer of King Khorin now casts Sunfall on attack instead of Fireball and no longer casts Psychic Blast. Earthquake attack now has a chance of 2% (was 1%)
  • Dagger of Striking now has 1 piercing damage (was 3)
  • Runemaster’s Amulet now gives access to the Industrial Age spell instead of casting Dig on attack
  • Tattered Undergarments of Despair now give +2 Purulence skill instead of +2 Contamination skill
  • Equus Roundshield now gives access to the Weatherlock spell instead of casting it on attack
  • K’Tarn Bulwark now gives +4 Scales skill (was +3) and +2 Warding skill (was none) and no longer gives -3 Contamination skill
  • Eyes of Mictlan now has a new item image, has a 3% chance of casting Call Shadow on attack (was 6%), now also gives access to the Poison Cloud spell instead of casting it on attack
  • Tlatecolotl’s Touch no longer gives +2 Poison, now gives access to the Immunity spell and has a 6% chance of casting Venom Touch on attack (was 7%)
  • Lifeless Euphoria no longer decreases enemy armor, gives access to the Mycotopia spell instead of casting it on attack, and the Shadowform spell now has a 10% chance of being cast on attack (was 1%)
  • Tome of Putrefaction no longer gives +4 Contagion and instead gives access to the Detonating Sac spell
  • Runesword now gives +1 Ignore Armor (was +2)
  • Sword of Light now has 4 slashing damage (was 5) and now gives +1 Combat (was +2), description updated
  • Dread Crown of Galbraxis now gives +4 Skull Lord (was +3) and casts Scare on attack at spell level 3
  • Lothdyn Seaspear now gives +1 Combat (was +3)
  • Skullhelm no longer gives +2 Necromancy and instead gives access to the Raise Skeleton and Raise Zombie spells

  • Lysean Scepter now has a 5% chance of casting Brew Potion at spell level 1 (was a 7% chance at spell level 2)
  • Lysean Orb no longer gives +1 Resistance
  • Jewelled Dagger now has 3 piercing damage (was 4)
  • Assassin’s Blade now has 1 piercing damage (was 3) and 15 poison strength (was 4)
  • Pouch of Endless Gold now gives +6 Wealth (was +3)
  • Orb of Flame now gives access to the Hand of Flame spell instead of casting it on attack, description updated

  • Ragnaran Greatsword now has a fear attack of strength 2 instead of casting Scare on attack
  • Forged Stormhammer now has 6 electrical damage (was 5) and now has a 3% chance of casting Call Lightning on attack (was 2%)

  • Alfland Sling now gives +2 Combat (was +3) and +2% critical hit chance (was +6%)
  • Wraith’s Blade now has 4 cold damage (was 2) and has a 5% chance of casting Mind Leech at spell level 3 (was 3% chance at spell level 2)
  • Wind’s Feet no longer gives +1 Resistance and it now gives negative electrical armor
  • Snakeslither now gives +4 Thievery (was +6)
  • Lyseas’ Mandate now gives +2 Morale (was +1), has a 3% chance of casting Corruption on attack (was 5%) and has a 5% chance of casting Awe on attack (was 7%)
  • Stealthhand Girdle no longer gives +1 Speed and gives +2 Thievery skill (was +3)
  • Trargish Banner no longer gives Combat (was +1)
  • Black-Hand Banner now casts Chaos Plague instead of Fireball on attack
  • Mechanical Emblem of Khaz-Tor now has a 2% chance of casting Haste on attack (was 3%)

  • Omniscience has new golden circlet image, now gives +1 View and casts Scry instead of Truesight on attack
  • Omnipotence now gives +2 Ritual skill (was 2% chance of casting Empower on attack) and casts Divine Peace instead of Fireball on attack
  • Miracle of Blessing now gives access to the Blessing spell instead of casting it on attack
  • Miracle of Healing now gives +3 Elcor’s Balm skill (was +4) and has a 2% chance to cast Heal Group on attack (was 3%)

  • Rejuvenation of Nature no longer gives Nature and now gives access to the Change Weather spell
  • Lifetap now has a 6% chance of casting Gemberry at spell level 5 (was 4% at spell level 2)
  • Antharg’s Vision now gives +2 Execration skill instead of +2 Contamination skill

  • Key to Evermore no longer gives +3 Chronomancy and instead gives access to the Slow spell
  • Two-Faced Crown now gives +4 Constitution (was +2) and now has a 6% chance of casting Immunity at spell level 2 on attack (was 5% chance at spell level 1)
  • Bloodthirst now gives +9 Vampirism (was +6)
  • Soul’s Snare now casts Reset instead of Stone Golem on attack
  • Mana Bank now gives +5 Lore skill (was +4) and -1 Speed (was -3)
  • Silvermyr Plate now gives +2 Forest Rune skill (was +1)
  • Skyweaver Headdress updated description, now gives +1 Sky Rune (was +2), now gives access to the Summon Animals spell instead of casting it on attack
  • Drong’s Sledgehammer no longer gives +5 Demolition skill and gives 13 Damage

  • A destroyed shop can now drop more than 4 hero items by creating a second chest for the excess items

Misc

  • The mouse cursor is now locked to the game’s screen / window when running

  • Added 2 cheats to manipulate unit / building abilities. “giveability <CPI number>” and “removeabilities”. The former gives the selected unit / building an ability, while the latter removes all abilities from the selected unit / building
  • Added yet another cheat “iamaterminator <side number>” which instantly defeats the specified side. Note that this only works on AI sides
  • Raze Fest, Slug Fest, King of the Hill and Conquest game modes now pause the game at the end of it, allowing for spectators to see final score and map
  • King of the Hill and Conquest game modes now reveal the location of these sites at game start
  • Slug Fest now counts the army’s ASP value (was unit’s resource and time cost)
  • The “build” cheat no longer resets the whole map’s blocking data, cover data and move path data
  • The control panel can now display 40 units (was 32) and all unit icons are now the same size, regardless of the unit’s flagged size or army limit consumption
  • Choice dialogs may now be selected with the number keys
  • Map list from the skirmish screen now accepts first letter key input for quick searches

  • Added right click support for using ability / spell buttons from units and buildings. Left click now only casts the ability by 1 unit - refusing to cast if the ability offers a persistent effect to friendly units when the caster already has the effect. Right click now casts the ability for all selected units, even for those already affected by the ability if it offers a persistent effect but can affect other friendly units
  • You can no longer select enemy invisible units nor track enemy invisible units via the lockable data area
  • Enemy units that are “off the map” (such as in a tower) can no longer be tracked if you had them selected or locked in the control panel’s lockable area
  • Improved the mouse cursor’s interaction of units and buildings to help with selecting small units, such as Bats, or buildings with a lot of ground room, such as the undead Cage
  • Added “Follow Cam.” Pressing shift + F on a unit will have the game follow that unit around the map. Pressing shift + F again on the same unit, or with none selected, cancels the Follow Cam. Moving the screen yourself at any point while the Follow Cam is active will have it pause for 5 seconds before snapping back to the unit
  • Holding Alt while setting a rally point will now apply that rally point to all of your buildings. In addition, holding Ctrl when right clicking on the rally point button (to cancel a rally point) will now cancel the rally point for all of your buildings
  • Holding Ctrl when setting a rally point will now apply that rally point to all buildings of the same type. Holding Shift when clicking to cancel a rally point will now cancel the rally points of all buildings of that type
  • Holding Shift will now allow you to set multiple rally points for the selected building - used by worker units to skip full mines
  • The spell bar now prioritises displaying active abilities over inactive ones, with active morph / merge abilities taking priority over other active abilities
  • The player can now change the game’s behavior for when the screen isn’t in focus (found in the Resolution section of the main game options)
  • Right clicking on a building with a unit selected no longer opens the production panel
  • Implemented production grid-hotkeys
  • The escape key now exits most menus
  • Mousewheel now works on all create hero dropdowns
  • Selecting a side in the scenario lobby will default your playing faction to your hero's faction if there's no map specific override.
