Hi,

we are currently looking for programmers to help work on our upcoming title "Project Ascension". It's a management simulation set in a post-apocalyptic sci-fi setting with a focus on survival, exploration and tactical combat.

The player starts out in charge of a small band of survivors and guides them to construct a makeshift base which can provide for their physical and psychological needs. Afterwards he has to defend the base against hostile raiders and send out raiding parties of his own to explore abandoned ruins and fight through procedurally generated dungeons to find valuable resources and technology to upgrade the base further. The game draws inspiration from other titles such as Dwarf Fortress, Rimworld, Cataclysm DDA and XCOM while introducing several new ideas of it's own.

We are using the Unity engine and a stylized 3D art style. A few example concepts:

Our team currently consists of a designer/coder, several 2D and 3D artists and a sound designer/composer. Most of us have strong backgrounds in modding, some having run major mod projects over several years with larger teams before, thus already being experienced with projects on this scale.

This project originally started when a number of mod ideas proved too big to implement as mere mods and so we launched development of our own game instead. We're doing this because we love our crafts and because we enjoy making games other people can enjoy. That is also why we keep a friendly and open atmosphere within the team, where everyone is encouraged to offer opinions, discuss and suggest features. While we do keep timetables and schedules to make sure the project stays on track we do not let them negatively affect our work atmosphere.

That said, we do plan on commercializing and starting a crowd funding campaign once we have a sufficiently polished prototype/demo to base it on, with our team members being entitled to a part of the revenue from the product they helped create.

We are currently on the lookout for new programmers to accelerate the speed of development. You'd be using C# and the Unity editor to write code for new features as per the design requirements. Experience with C#/Unity is a plus but not required, provided you are willing to learn (of course our current coder would support you in learning the language/API). Same goes for GitHub, as we're using it for source control and project planning/management. Our team communication runs via Discord chat and we have weekly meetings where we report on progress and discuss/plan future work.
