Race, joust, and play CTF on hoverbikes. No punching, kicking or weapons allowed, though. (Yes that complicates things, but don't worry. The riders can't seem to stay on their bikes anyway.)

Planned Features (for Final Version):
- A variety of hoverbikes with simple controls that are easy to learn, yet difficult to master.
- Customizable bikes and riders.
- A variety of tracks and arenas in different settings.
- Semi-wacky but not-too-wacky physics. Moderate wackiness.
- Single and multi-player. (Split-screen only for now, Online coming later)
- Modes to include: Racing, Deathmatch/Arena Joust, Capture the Flag, Practice, and eventually others.
- Fairly low system-requirements.
- Rebindable controls.

This game is a solo-effort (design+code+art+sound+music) being developed with Unity, Blender, Gimp, and Ableton Live.

I am so very excited to present to you Hoverbike Joust's first alpha update in over three years! I'ts not a huge one, but it gets things going in the right direction: Newer engine! Fancy ambient shading! Remap controls within the game! And finally a separate input for rolling left/right (a la Jet Moto)!

The next things I'm working on are: online multiplayer, bike/suit/color selection, more bikes & suits, a new arena, and two more tracks. At that point I'll most-likely be starting up paid alpha/early-access -- and giving out a bunch of free keys in the process! Gonna need lotsa people on them servers for fun multiplayer! =]

Here's the change-log for alpha 0.0.3!

-----0.0.3 Alpha---------------------------------------------
-Updated engine to Unity 2017 LTS
-Disabled Unity launcher window
-Moved screen-res to options menu
-Implemented 'Rewired' to improve controller support/remapping etc.
-Implemented fancy ambient shading (optional, on by default - requires shader model 4.5 or higher)
-Changed menu colors again whynot?
-Added separate inputs for rolling left/right
-Added graphic for default control layout

Hello everyone (if you happen to see this). This game is very much still alive! Actual news update soon, followed by a new alpha that is just about done. Lots of improvements and additions!

One more thing I would like to ask, is this game going to have an announcer of sorts for lap counts, multiple kills, etc? I know someone who may be able to help if you would like a male announcer voice.

Hey, thank you, that's a good question. I definitely plan on having some way to emphasize these events more eventually, but I'm leaning more toward text and sounds to keep with the retro aesthetic. However, it's not something I'd rule out completely. I will surely keep it in mind. I could always bitcrush the voice samples to keep them in line with the game's style.

Well if you ever want to contact my friend, you can find him at www.twitch.tv/omega392.. He has a really great voice and can manipulate it pretty well. Also, are you going to eventually put this on steam greenlight or something? (After you finish everything you want of course)

Steam/Greenlight will probably happen somewhere down the line... Maybe once I get the bike/rider customization in-place, which should be in 0.0.3.

Nice! Unfortunately for me, my hard drive failed. So now I have to wait until replacements arrive to do anything. D:

Only 2 tasks away now! But don't worry.. It may still be a while. I'm entirely scrapping my AI algorithm for the most part, as they are completely terrible after upgrading to Unity 5 (due to different physics engine), especially on the new tracks I've added. After the AI, it's some more music for the new tracks and I'm done with 0.0.2.

Oh that's unfortunate for the AIs. But I'm sure you'll find a way of re-creating something just as good, or even better! For me, it isn't going well. I made the terrible mistake of using a Toshiba hard drive, now all my files are gone, including Jet Moto Galaxy.

Man, that suuuuuucks! D= My condolences for sure. No backup at all? I back up all the HJ project files every two weeks or thereabouts. Sometimes I throw an extra one in if I've had a couple of extra productive days that I don't want to risk losing.

Yeah, no backup. The only thing that remains is the first ****** track I made back when someone else was supposed to do the game. Yeah, someone else. I didn't have any experience and asked someone who did and sent him one of my tracks, but he didn't have time to make the game, so I started making it myself. I'll have to remake everything from scratch.
