HoD is my personal game project, started many many years ago.

This also means, I have to do everything by myself. Concept, art, programming, music, sound effects.
Coming from an artist background (web-design and 3d graphics), I have acquired all the necessary sills to work on this game. And I have learned quite a lot in the process.
I first started using the ShiVa engine. But then unity came around and looked better with every release, so I decided to started over again. I began using a visual scripting editor for unity because that seemed to be the easiest solution to begin with, due to my limited programming experience. But after a while, I figured that it’s better to write the code by hand rather than looking for the right nodes to connect.
So here we go again. I then manually converted my node-setup into JS-files.

I have always targeted PC and mobile devices. I constantly test and play the game on some android devices to make sure, that I haven’t messed up the performance.

To make it both appealing on and PC and running smoothly on a mobile device, I came up with some ideas to keep the performance impact as low as possible. As of today the game is running at 1080p with (almost) constant 60fps and 4XMSAA on the Shield K1 and Shield TV (Tegra X1). I previously used the OUYA console to test it on where I tried to maintain 1080p @ 30fps. (Tegra 3).
If it runs smoothly on a mobile device, it will run on any modern PC.

I have written all the shaders myself to have full control over the performance and look of the game. I will get into the details in a separate article, if anyone is interested.

This game is meant to be the first episode, that might be continued, if I’ll ever manage to finish this one :)
