Hairy Tales is our"fiendishly difficult" puzzle game, inspired by ChuChu Rocket and Lemmings, which has been getting some great reviews based on its originality, style and difficulty.

Combining tile-dragging mechanics with fast furious action, Hairy Tales is a puzzle strategy game about the zany adventures of a group of not too bright folk spirits, as you help them puzzle out evil conundrums in their mission to save their tile-based world from sickening corruption.

It stars the Hairys, an excitable group of fairy folk who are so eager to clear their world of corruption that they simply don't watch where they're going. It's up to you to lead them to safety by placing tiles and power ups in their way.

It has 72 levels split across three distinctive worlds, where players must simultaneously save the Hairys from falling off the edge of the world by re-arranging the tiles on each stage, while acquiring power ups, magic mushrooms and destroying evil enemy Kikimoras and their three powerful end bosses.

Features

  • Unique combination of tile-based puzzle and strategy mechanics.
  • Hardcore puzzles delivered in casual game length sessions.
  • Fully-alterable world with a great tactile feel.
  • Stage variety from simple and straightforward, to complex and devious with high replayability.
  • Multiple solutions for each stage, allowing players to use their creativity to reach a perfect solution or just leave some points for collection on later attempts.
  • Colorful environments and hilarious characters.
  • Very visual progression - you can see how well you're doing right on the environment as it cleans up.

A few months back we asked the Linux community about porting Hairy Tales to Linux, and got a very good response. I'm happy to announce that we now have native support of Hairy Tales for Linux available through Desura!

Inspired by ChuChu Rocket and Lemmings, Hairy Tales is a puzzle/action game which combines tile-dragging mechanics with puzzles that have been called "fiendishly difficult" and allow players to come up with their own solutions. You don't have direct control over the Hairys, but instead direct them by altering their environment to help them avoid dangers, lead them to power ups, and deal with enemies and powerful bosses.

It has received excellent reviews, and has a Metacritic score of 81. Enjoy!

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but there's an annoying random bug that results in level completion failure. Sometimes when I finish a level, it'll act as if I've failed it for no apparent reason.. I get 100% clear of corruption and it'll still do it randomly. I've had it happened to me about 3 times so far..

Hi!

I hadn't heard of it, but will check if I can find anything that would cause that. When it happens, does the next level get unlocked, or does it fully act as if you'd lost the level?

Thanks for letting me know!

I'm not sure if the next level gets unlocked, I'll have to check the next time I play it.
