Forging Life...

A survival, build a life role playing game, were you decide your own path. Realism is a keyword. Can you survive long enough to become someone, other people find useful? Start from scratch, know nothing, no body - just you... (Over time you might be satisfied being a farmer or hired mercenary. Maybe you aim higher in life and want to own a business, getting a fine title in the ranks of a guild or clan. Killing innocents and steal their hard eraned valuables is another option.) Choose life, your life...

Some of the features.

  • Evolution - NO spawning

    • The animals present in the world, does not survive unless they find the food they need.
    • Diseases can weaken or kill animals, even entire floks.
    • Breed or be extint. The parents genes combined will form their offspring. Mutations can happen.
    • Herbivore, carnivore and omnivore - food for all are present, if they can find it.
  • Plant growth - NO spawning
    • Plants grow depending on the temperature and precipitation they need and what the terrain can offer.
    • The way the plants spread depend on their type.
    • Soil and fertilization also play a big role in the fate of the plants.
    • We now have a botanist in our team, so this area will expand.
  • Interact with all objects in the world.
    • All items, from the grass to the biggest tree is interactable. No pure decorative items.
    • All NPC's are interactable.
  • Skill-based
    • No lame experience points. Meaning: Killing a bear, will NOT make you better in Herbalism.
    • Fighting a foe, will however increase your fighting skill in that particular weapon type. Propably also your strength and other related Skills and Attributes.
    • Even a non successful skill use, will help you gain in your skill - eventually. We learn from our mistakes.
    • Not using a skill for a while will make you somewhat rusty and the skill level will fall below your normal capability. However, using the skill again will quickly get you back to normal level.
    • In other words, practice makes the master....
  • Disease system
    • Disease is often hidden from the player, npc or animal. But eventually symptoms will start to show up, such as fever, headache or vommiting etc.
    • The disease can be cured by time or by a person with sufficient medical skill. But before the disease can be cured, the symptoms must be evaluated and the exact disease determined.
    • Not being able to determine the correct disease, can have severe consequences.
    • Diseases can spread depending on the type of parasite, bacteria or virus.
    • Diseases will often affect your ability to perform even the simple tasks.
  • Behavior / personallity / feelings / need controlled NPC's
  • All is craftable
    • All items you'll come across and can see in the world, is craftable.
    • None decoratice items, without its been crafted by a inhabitant in the world.

Singleplayer games are fun, no doubt about it - but for many players a singleplayer game requires a well told story. And we are not sure, we can / want to tell a story. We just want people to tell their own story, by building a life for them selves. But telling that story to your self, might not be satisfactory enough for all. Thats why we have decided to convert the game to an MMO.

So right now the game is being split up in to client/server side, and service clients. Fortunate for us, we designed the code, so much of it are pretty easy to split up. So the progress is good.

We KNOW we havn't been good to you lately, eg. showing new progress and graphics. Most of all, because there are no new progress in that area. Over the summer, the holidays and RL work pressure, we only have had time to build most of the editor and now we have started the MMO. We look forward to see two clients hooked up to the server, and to run around, interacting with each other.

Be patient :)

I'm creating a similiar game to this one, but in 2d, it's called DinoSystem.

I did think about a gameplay like this for a lot of time; it is son nice to see other people already working on it. Are you guys accepting contributors? Thinking of releasing this opensource?

Have you guys put this up on Kickstarter yet?
I am sure you would get heaps of backers and it would be a good motivation as well!
(I would support/donate :D)

The other point was that I don't want this to try and mimic the sandbox games out there. Like you said, you like weird, keep it that way. Make it something that will be new and interesting! Rather than just a recreation/re-skin of something like WurmOnline or Minecraft.

SO EXCITED!
I am being patient!
