Tired of war, ninjas and zombies?
So were we.That's why, 3 years ago, we started building FireJumpers. We were just a 2-person indie team. But we were inspired by the grit and heroism displayed by wildland firefighters - battling massive fires to save lives and property - with some very cool equipment! Our first wildfire game was FireJumpers Wildfire RTS. In this paid, single-player game, the player fights wildfires in locales around the world, from Malibu to Hong Kong. It was a success on Android and iOS, with an average rating of more than 4.5 out of 5.

That's when we got a call from a Canadian wildland firefighting agency asking us to build them an Air
Attack Officer training simulation. This became FireJumpersPro ATS (Aerial Training Simulator), which features a multi-player feature for remote training.

Multi-player was so much fun that we brought the feature back to mobile gamers with FireJumpers Sandbox. In this "sandbox", players set up their own wildfire scenarios by choosing a map, specifying the fire location and wind speed/direction, and then inviting other players to join them in fighting the fire.

The new game, FireJumpers Inferno, will incorporate many of the features already developed for Sandbox, including:

  • Sophisticated real-time fire simulation that burns differently each time (depending on terrain and wind)
  • Multi-player (allows a team to tackle the largest fires)
  • "Walkie-Talkie" button (for real-time communication with the team)
  • Air units (helicopters, water bombers, retardant bombers)
  • Ground units (cut teams, hose teams, bulldozers, engines, brush trucks, smokejumpers)
  • Civilian units
  • 25 maps from around the world

But that's just the beginning...FireJumpers Inferno will super-charge the wildfire fighting gamer experience, and we'd like to invite you to be part of the adventure!

"Honestly One of THE best games I have played. Its not very often you can actually play a game with the developer and tell him the issues you have, live, while playing!! And its a sure thing that the developer won't just give up on this and that there will always be constant updates because the dev plays the game himself!! I was amazed when (for the first time) last night I played the game and he joined my server!! He is very very active in the games community!! And to top it off... The game is amazing!! Top quality:)" -Daniel

Game balance is so important, and we've been thinking very hard how to balance gameplay vs reality. In real wildland firefighting, generally it's 90%+ ground crews that put out the fire, and water bombers, retardant bombers and other aircrafts are usually an independent company which the government outsources. Frankly, it's really expensive to use them.

So part of the idea is your team is mainly ground crews, cut teams, hose teams, engines, dozers, etc with perhaps a helicopter or two. These units are the ones that will gain experience as you play. However, bombers are a different story.

The bombers are shared over many states on what is called a "Ready Board". As an Incident Commander, you can request reinforcements to the "Ready Board". However, there's only a limited number of bombers everyone has to share. Now, considering the gameplay vs reality, to reflect that bombers are sometimes not available, there'd be a delay from the time you request a bomber to the time the bomber arrives, if they are available. Though, once it does get into "play", you'll have access to it for the rest of the mission. The "Ready Board" will have a certain random element as well, sometimes only 1 bomber will be available, sometimes more, sometimes none. I was thinking that perhaps it would depend on other players who are online at the time, and how many bombers are currently in use.

I'd really like to know what players think of this idea.

This is a walk through video showing how the prototype currently works. There's still a lot of work to be done, but gives a really good idea on how things...
