This 100% off of the usual $9.99 price point is an attempt to build up as many of you delicious Chester fans as possible before Steam launches their Greenlight platform, where fan support will hopefully be able to finally get Chester onto Steam.
Chester is a 2D platformer with over 10 unlockable characters, a light RPG element and leveling up system, loads of unlockables, around 50 levels, and 8 "styles" that allow the player to change the look of the game at will. These styles include sketchbook, 8-bit, LCD, blueprints, and many more. They also each give a unique gameplay bonus to the player. The game also includes 4 difficulty levels so that almost anyone can beat the game or get a very challenging experience out of it.

UPDATE:
Just recieved an email from Desura: the game will still be playable to everyone who installed it, but unfortunately if you uninstall you will not be able to reinstall.
As my intention was to give the game permanently I'll be working out some sort of solution to get permanent keys to everyone who wants one for a short period of time.
Once the sale is over I'll put it back on 90% sale for those who are interested in just grabbing it for $1 and then start to work on a way to give those free keys out!

Still working on getting it onto Steam.
One of the main reasons for this free sale is to try to generate as many fans of the game as possible, that way when Steam launches Greenlight ( Steamcommunity.com ) it should be easier to get Chester pushed through!
What about the soundtrack??? I want it soo much :) lamour busy or something?
So wait. Is the full version free forever for those of us who grab it now? I can uninstall it and still have it in my account later?
I ask because I just installed it, but it doesn't show up in my purchase or gift history.
My intention with this was for the game to be free to own if you got it in the 48 hours, but with how Desura is set up it looks like it may just be free to play for those 48 hours. I've sent an email to Desura for confirmation on this.
If it ends up that it isn't being tied to your accounts, I'll be setting up a page to give away registration keys for the game that will give it to you forever.
How very noble of you to do. Some of us appreciate the effort you don't need to go through to do that.... even if we might not take you up on the offer.
