Damn, looks like everyone wants to kill me :p
So, I just got the beta today, and I'm happy I own it, but I have some problems with the game as it currently is. First off, it definitely pulls from Isaac like it says, while adding it's own spin on a few things. Which in some cases is good, in other cases I feel it hurts the game by trying to be different. First off, reloading kills the pacing in a game like this for me. I rather not have to keep an eye on ammo with bullets + enemies flying everywhere, then realize I couldn't shoot for a moment, and get smacked because of it. Maybe others like the added complication of this, I feel it adds a problem though. Next, many of the enemies do feel quite fair, and a lot of the AI is very solid! But, there are some exceptions to this, where I die and think "Man, what the hell is wrong with this enemy?". Trust me when I say I'm no stranger to hard games, but I feel the deaths should be an error on my end, not something charging so incredibly fast that it's nearly impossible to avoid (Wasp boss on stage 1, the boxer on stage 2 in particular so far). My last problem with this game, may be just due to the ridiculous amount of time I've put in to Isaac.. It feels weird that my movement speed doesn't affect the direction of the shots. I'm very biased on this particular point though. Overall, I feel it needs a lot of polish at the stage it's in now,but has the potential to be a solid game.
Fantastic roguelike... Screw Isaac!
A fun little top-down roguelike. I felt it was almost too closely related to Binding of Isaac, so much so that I feel it's a dulled down version of the real thing. This game draws a fine line between being inspired by and full-blown copying Binding of Isaac.
That being said it's a great little game, it has great mob mechanics and feels quite polished. I enjoy it but I can't help but feel like I would enjoy just playing Binding of Isaac a little more.
