ÆON FLUX Episodes is an old school 2d side scroller for the PC. It’s based primarily on the ÆON FLUX shorts from MTV’s Liquid Television. The game play mechanics are built around exploration, some pretty cool gymnastics and of course, lots of gun play. Download the beta today!

I'm posting this article mainly just to announce the project but I've also included some technical information below that you may find interesting. I just finished uploading most of my profile content, though I still have some things to add. Please visit my website for more information and screenshots (www.briangardiner.com). This game features some pretty detailed animation that I've been looking forward to showing off so be sure to watch the trailer.

AFE is a shoot-em-up with a bit of parkour action thrown in. As the characters move there are gates in certain parts of their animation where the transition to a different animation can be made. It may feel awkward at first but this allows for some very fluid character movement. If you've ever played games like Flashback or Abe's Odyssey then you may already have a feel for it. Every animation in the game plays at 24 frames per second. No exceptions.

It also features the ability to shoot left and/or right independently. This means you can shoot the enemies behind you as you walk forward, or better yet you can shoot the enemies in front and behind simultaneously.

To check out the trailer in hi-rez try the YouTube version:

It is my hope that this game stands out as a high quality Game maker release. There are so many Sonic and Mario clones out there from the GM community, and I believe the people that make them are actually much more capable then they seem! Your comments and suggestions are welcome. Enjoy the beta release of ÆON FLUX!

Hmm yeah it could use some balancing, control customization, and of course longer...

Is a great game, congradulations for the team, very addictive, however I feel a little strange the control, sometimes I confuse when I jump... speciality when you are quiet and you need jump... emm I was wondered Why not try to do something like the old game of Prince of Persia? (remember it? great game too) The control of this old game will inspire you something ^^.

The graphics and animation are incredible, however pretty much everything else isn't very good. The controls are awkward, and even once you remember all the controls and understand how to play the rest of the game can be finished by always shooting both directions.

Baw i cant interact with the "Skip Tutorial" elevator on the left.
The tutorial is kinda funny btw, i just mowed every enemy down, without tactics (hiding).

It sounds like you're completely missing the point of the tutorial.

Great game, just fell the controls a little awkward; jump and climb just need to be in the SPACE button.

I anticipated some awkwardness for some players. Games like Prince of Persia and Flashback felt very similar but of course those games were released many years ago. I believe it's a system that still works once you get used to it. Hopefully the next release will allow users to remap the buttons and use a gamepad.

Hm wouldn't a adventure have been better? How does a jump&run compare to the great story of the comic series!
