The traditional multisports arcade title reinvented for the modern era. Then thrown away along with games that require more than two digital inputs and more than a single plane of movement. Imagine Hypersports, Track and Field or Daly Thompsons Decathlon taking place on a line and you've just imagined the future of multisport arcade titles.

1D Sports finally enters open beta today with a single sport alpha preview available right now shortly to be updated to a multisport version.

Over on Indievania you can find the 1D Sports paid beta programme has started in ernest.

The first release is an alpha build that shows the sprint event in action. This will be shortly replaced by a build that includes local highscore tables and then in the middle of the week by a multi-sport version that either previews multiple events or allows an alpha quality playthrough.

The delay was due to me uploading the binary slightly later than planned and Indievania's moderation time being a tad longer than the 2 days I was led to believe. We'll soon know if updates to binaries also have a longer lead time. If they do (or if there is a long wait for existing players to get updates) there will be less frequent updates than previously planned with each one containing several times the content.

If you want any extra information on 1D Sports (and the wait to approve blogs on IndieDB is too long to wait) then hit me up on @steve_parkes or @DistortedPoetry.

The proper beta is due to start on Wednesday so get in early for the low price of $1US and see who's winning all the medals in the 1D world.
