Youtube video upload broken? (Forums : Support : Youtube video upload broken?) Locked

I've tried several times to upload a youtube video to my mod and each time I get the same error message about it being 'timed out'.

Issue on my end or server issue, or something else?

Anybody know how to fix?

Thanks for your report, this issue was already fixed some time ago. Sorry that nobody left a message that it was. If anyone spots any issues or bugs, or if any of you suspect that something does not work as intended, you can report it here in this subforum, any assistance is greatly appreciated!

I can never seem to upload a YouTube video, says the same 'timed out', I know a direct url is needed but still does not seem to work. Youtube.com

Damn, yes, it seems broken. Other videos pop up filedata errors.

It depends on the video, unfortunately most work but some just don't. If you give me the youtube video link of the one you are struggling with I can take a look.

Yeah ive had this issue for many months! Recently tried again hoping I could upload but it still fails with a time out. The odd one did work though out of the 5-6 or so I tried.

Here is one that didn't work:

Here is one that DID work:

Hi Scott, I did paste the link in my previous post, I see it named it youtube.com so not so obvious.

I've been using IndieDB for years now and I never had this issue before, i could any link and it would work, i could also paste it in various ways (long link, short link, etc.) and it would grab no problem. I started encountering an issue id say 6 months or so ago and never really bothered with it until a few weeks ago when trying to upload multiple videos.

So in all technicality, it should still function the same as it always did, the real question is what happened in that time that made the youtube link grab break so badly?

Here's my video that won't upload (any videos from this channel won't upload, i've had it for a while):

Which video? Some videos won't work with the uploading, and you would need to upload the raw video file (the old fashioned way!)

I as well now face the issue that a video is not uploading: Youtu.be

Asked Google about the issue and I belive that the underscore in "TFKnke3bJ_k" breaks the parser.
Might be the hint you need to track the issue down Scott...or not. ;)

I've checked and the _ is no problem. For some reason youtube returns 403 forbidden when we attempt to download that file. It might be a setting you've picked because when I try other videos there is no issue.

I seem to be having this trouble, too. I'm trying to upload the video embedded below, but keep receiving the following error:

Your upload request has failed. Please check the URL is correct and links directly to the file you want to upload. Links to webpages or redirects will NOT work. This is the exact error:

Error locating Youtube video download URLs.

In a quick test with another video from my channel, the process worked without error.

If there's a setting that I've applied, then I'm not sure of what it might be.

The only major difference that I see in a quick inspection of the two videos is that the one that doesn't work has the new "Is this video Made for Kids?" option set, where the one that does work has nothing set there (presumably having been uploaded before the option was added). The video that doesn't work has the option in question set to "No, it's not Made for Kids"--but conversely, has no age-restriction applied.

Yeah due to the way youtube handles videos, some are able to be retrieved while others are not.

Ah, that's a pity, and quite frustrating! Ah well, I'll leave that one be, then; hopefully the next video will be retrieved successfully!

Thank you for the reply! ^_^

Due to how some videos on YouTube are processed (the audio and video are sometimes processed separately) they may not be able to be uploaded to ModDB/IndieDB unfortunately.

Hi guys, I have issues uploading videos on moddb from youtube too for quite some months now.
It's a legit youtube link and still doesn't work.
Here's the message I get.
Youtube video upload failed.

Hey Spi-Hamentsios10, as Intense and myself have mentioned above, unfortunately due to how YouTube handles videos, sometimes certain videos we can't retrieve onto ModDB.

Would recommend uploading the file for the video directly of your computer then if the YouTube video you are trying to upload isn't working.
