Xash3D is the powerful independent open-sourced 3D-engine, aimed for high compatibility with GoldSource engine formats (maps, models, textures, sounds, entities etc.), but with the intention to be an advanced platform for modmaking or game development. Technically it has been built from a scratch, using as totally original ideas, as some ideas from other 3D-engines. There is no official download yet, because work is not finished. But some features of Custom Build are already added into XashXT v0.65 (and you can download it).

Hey, Qwertyus. How would I go about using bump maps in Xash3D? I've been trying to find out but I can't seem to find any tutorial on how to do so. :c

Description

There is a sample video demonstrating some new features of upcoming Custom Build of XashXT mod by SovietCoder (project is based on XashXT mod by Unkle Mike). You can see there two types of grass automatically "planted" by engine on the ground (ground texture, types of grass and additional parameters, such as height and density, can be specified by user). Also Custom Build will allow mapper to create glasses and water with realistic refractions (and reflections), using special normal maps for that. Moreover, there are planned support for overbrights (better lighting effects) plus bump-mapping, specular-mapping and parallax mapping. Work in progress, final release date is not determined yet.
