In 2015 we have a lot planned for the DBolical Network. First and foremost our aim is to greatly enhance and optimise our existing sites (ModDB, IndieDB, SlideDB) - so we can continue to grow and nature our amazing community. We have already done a great deal in the last month which includes:
- A much more friendly on-boarding process for new members, to help them join the community
- We **** hate spam, so we've greatly improved our detection system which should catch less legit members and more dodgy ones, hopefully pushing the spammers away
- Greatly streamlined process when adding games, mods, engines and companies
- When adding a game you can import it from Steam, iOS or Android stores - taking seconds
- Speed improvements (we had some pages using hundreds of megs of data)
- Uploading videos is now super easy with Youtube links supported
- Uploading images to galleries can now be done by selecting batches of images at a time
- Added VR / AR platform support (more to come here)
- More helpful error messages
We hope these changes help both creators and players who visit our site on a daily basis. We have plenty more to come such as a redesign, embeddable game support, extra VR stuff and will continue to improve everything we can (welcoming all suggestions).
Oh and one final change for us admins, is a new detailed analytics dashboard to help us make informed decisions and see the impact they have on our visitor engagement. I've included a secret sneak peak of it above. Thanks for reading! Scott
Very nice :)
Really look forward to the new changes to Moddb :)
"Uploading images to galleries can now be done by selecting batches of images at a time"
Praise Jesus.
Finally haha, surprised it took this long.
How about having the option to upload a picture in public, for friends only or private (just like you can toggle your account). It would be usefull when you want to make an article here, but not spam your own profile with resource.
We are mostly a platform for sharing what you are doing publicly and helping you promote it.
Hey _w_, created a special group for that quite a long time ago, here's a link: Moddb.com you can just post images there, copy View Original urls and then delete (or leave) resource images.
(Deleted stuff is only soft-deleted/hidden from the public view.)
Yeah i understand that point of view too ok, and thanks for the group link :P
Dunno what happened, but now i cant see any news or anything anymore.
Every place is "empty."
Oh, also i cant see my games. The site says there none, but there is two. Yay.
Sometimes following a link to a blog (like via my own comments page) results in 404. Despite the blog being still there.
Sounds like your filtering the site. Try this link Moddb.com
It means you have clicked the VR or AR platform and are filtering the site. Click on the "home" tab to show all content
Oh wow.. I struggled with this for weeks. I feel like an idiot now :D
I think it confuses a lot of people... I wonder how we could make it more obvious so people dont fall into this trap!
What about making a pop-up like notification coming up from the bottom right corner?
Would say something like this:
"Hey, you're in the (name of platform) section. Want to go back?... *Link to all platforms section*"
Yeah haha its a problem i have enouncter before, but it was on this time so i tried again;
Moddb.com
if you go to my comment article:the turning wheel and go to the link it says 404. No idea why then, it is on home :)
good catch, i'll fix that now!
Good stuff guys. Looking forward to it all. Good luck on implementing it all!
I love this, more hard data! Keep it coming. BTW I white-listed you guys because Ad's are minimal and you guys deserve it!
really appreciate that, we are working on friendlier ads too so people can support us as 50% adblock is scary and not sustainable!
Please work on a GOOD redesign. The actual design is old but ORIGINAL. Don't downgrade it in LAMBDA modernist flat ****
We do want to stay original absolutely, but we do also want a simpler more functional design
I dont know about everyone else but my mod team has been lost in space when it comes to finding a good mod website. This is by far.. and I mean far the best we have seen. So the decision was made to inform all of the other websites we was on that we was moving here. It made some of our fans angry but like our team said. As a mod group we need a stable home. They are all welcome to follow our team this way if they choose to but for us this was the right move.
Thank you for the positive feedback, welcome!
On the tracker side of the userbase, the DBolitical network is by far the most sleek and convenient site I've come across. These days I become annoyed if I find a mod or game that interests me, but which doesn't have a DB page or doesn't update their DB page regularly.
Thumbs Up! :)
