Greetings!

We're looking for people with a passion to join a project with a long term vision. Before getting into the details, a bit about our team--

Since I was a kid, I've always had a passion for game design (and of course, game playing). The very idea of experiencing worlds wholly fantastic (and of your own creation!) was (and is!) exhilarating to me. A simple monitor-- glass, wiring, and at the time one heck of an electron gun-- provides a glimpse into a digitally driven dimension where rules know only the bounds you create... I've been designing mods, maps and music for games since the early 2000s. My experience on the software design side of things includes designing frameworks, custom gametypes (which can be thought of as 'games' of their own with their own sets of rules) and standalone applications for users to port and create their own 3D models for import. I have a BS in Computer Engineering from UC San Diego and graduated with honors in my class. To date I'm working in hardware design, but it has always been my dream to pioneer a game studio that isn't afraid to create fresh, zany and innovative ideas!

My partner in crime, Casey, has also been developing mods for over a decade. He has a solid track record, having extensive knowledge of various languages and their nuances and has even contributed to an official retail game patch. He's my go-to guy when it's time to kick around ideas on how to evolve the engine to suit our needs-- together, we've overseen the evolution of our ideas in a way that incorporates modern engine design concepts in a modular and (fingers crossed) high-performance manner. In short-- we're an effective programming team that loves getting "knee deep in the code" with some 20 years of experience between us. :)

We're working to make our vision come true and are looking to take on one or two more members to join our team. Our engine has been a couple years in development and presently supports user I/O and has plenty of architectural groundwork for a modular, user-friendly scripting system (python ftw). Engine development is paused until we've hashed out the details of the game itself. Currently, we are working on the first draft of our game design document. It details the ins and outs of a top-down 2D classless RPG that takes place on the planet Lumania, home to an anthropomorphic feline race of spiritual energy wielders. I can provide more details upon inquiry.

As far as what we're looking for, I'm a firm believer that anyone with the right attitude can succeed so there's no firm requirement in years of experience, though we do look for some degree of creative experience. :)

Our needs are presently focused in the following areas:
* Writer (storyboard and character design)
* Gameplay Architect (assist in devising mechanics, game flow)
* 2D artist (pixel art, primarily)

Often times a person's skillset doesn't fit neatly into a single category and those with skills in multiple areas are highly valued. Additionally, interpersonal skills (communication, teamwork) are as important as technical skills.

Thanks!
-JD
