SSS(Shoe String Shooter) is a low budget FPS game which attempts to achieve "next gen" look. The game has no specific theme so you might find dinosaours, ninjas, cars and robots all together in the same game. It will consist of several small levels or maybe some bigger campaigns and also online gameplay. I will try to include any mechanic that looks fun, and not necesseraly realistic. There is the intention of making it look like an AAA title, at least from the technology side. Since the budget for the assets is a little on the short side.
This was just a promo video showing the Ogre I purchased.
Yes, I am planning co-op multiplayer fighting against monsters like that. I have more work doing on the AI and path finding although it's mostly complete.
The gameplay will roughly consist of fighting one or several monsters while the flash light will play an important part. Using the flashlight let you see further but it will also attract the monsters.
Gameplay is not final of course, but I will slowly work my way into something playable.
One of the reasons I chose coop is because it's not boring to play your own game when it's multiplayer and because it's boring to play a death match when there are only 2 people online.
So I figured co-op is optimal.
Cheers.
I am back to working on Shoe String Shooter after a long while I didn't touch the game. This time I am testing gameplay with flashlights.
Update with a rocket launcher. Probably the first time you have seen a rocket launcher in a game...
Laying doing the first goal for SSS. Also, Android support.
Hey yo dawg I heard yo makin' a game so I came for modellin'. Ya know my lowpoly models, right?
Heh thanks.
Just took a look at your models, they are looking pretty good.
Maybe you can download the free sculptris from pixelogic and turn your low poly models into high poly!
I already do.... More or less. Sooo...... Ninjas?
A good polygon count for the models I use is about 9K or 10K for a character.
I also need baked normal maps and specular maps. And of course diffuse.
I can try out one of your models to see how it looks, though I don't promise I will use it.
Pls coop with monsters
That's the plan :)
Ok... I think you have too much polygons in game, not optimized for performance at all... I mean... Way too much polygons and with textures it would be a horror to play it on android...
The lots of polygon only happen when you have a DX11 compatible GPU on the PC.
There are fallbacks with fewer polygons for the PC as well.
For the Android it will automatically use the fallback.
So far the graphics look like Cube 2 with steroids. It will never run on my PC :(
Heh, don't be so sure. :P
Someone ran the game with a GeForce 8800. Not sure what was his CPU though.
I hope you would be able to at least run the fallback.
Man, I don't even have a Nvidia, i have an Intel 965 Express Family. I'm on a laptop. It's better than my Tabletop PC.
I tried to look this integrated GPU, and like most integrated intel GPU it seems to be quite low performance.
What kind of 3D games can you run on it?
It might be possible to run the game on it on a very low quality.
If only the GPU is the issue, then I could have a fall back with really minimal requirements. Probably almost no textures and very simple shading.
If the CPU is an issue as well it's going to be harder though.
I think your GPU support DX10 which is the minimum features I need.
Take a look here:
Intel.com
Anyway, I don't know, it might run on your laptop. We shall see. :P
DX9, and I can run games on high quality but low resolution :).
-HL2: Full graphics, 1024X768
-Halo Combat Evolved: Full graphics, 640X480
-Battlefield 2: Medium Graphics, 800X600
That's all I remember.
Well, I will see what I can do. Maybe, we will see...
