Description
Looking for a game with dazzling graphics and classic arcade excitement? Then connect the stars and protect your planet in Seeing Stars! No pay-to-win schemes. No viral gimmicks. Just timeless fun that will test out your skills. Seeing Stars is based off of classic Pong and Brick Breaker mechanics, but features a brand new constellation-building twist. My goal while creating the game was to keep the simplicity and excitement of an old-school arcade game, but to give it a 2017 face lift with new, dazzling graphics. If you like arcade style games, then Seeing Stars may become your new favorite. Download now and see for yourself!
History
Seeing Stars is the debut title published by Blue Footed Newbie LLC. Originally scheduled for a 1 month development cycle, I decided to keep it simple and build a clone of the first game that I ever programmed: Brick Breaker.
My timeline quickly stretched as the game evolved from a ball hitting bricks to a cannonball hitting clouds to a meteor hitting UFOs. With a curved paddle trajectory and a strong gravity effect, the gameplay gained a unique feel, but it wasn't until I decided to add a multi-hit bonus that the core mechanic changed and the game truly became special.
Drawing glowing lines between destroyed UFOs reminded me of constellations shining in the sky, and that is how Seeing Stars was born! A finite brick breaker level transformed into an infinite journey through outer space with differing creations every trial. After finalizing the gameplay, I wrote an algorithm that collected all of the different constellations that the player formed over the course of the game and displayed them on the end game screen in a beautiful galaxy. Complete with an inter-planetary menu interface, over the past 10 months I have worked hard to create a cohesive and immersive experience that originated from one of the original classic arcade games.
