Hi Desura community! :)

I'm proud to announce that the full version of my game "Rico - A Tale Of Two Brothers" is finally released! It's available for Windows, Mac and Linux. And if you like to play on a mobile device, there's an Android version too!

Rico - A Tale Of Two Brothers is a retro inspired platformer that mixes elements from many great classics like Pitfall, Super Mario, Castlevania and Knytt with my own humble ideas. A game with a nostalgic feeling while still staying fresh. I wanted to create something I would have loved to play as a child and still love to play now!

Rico features 32 levels, boss battles, collectible crystals, numerous different enemies and traps, 4 difficulty levels and a catchy chiptune soundtrack by Bunnymajs!

If you're interested, head over to the Desura page to get it! There's also a demo version that lets you play the first 8 levels including the first boss fight for free, so why not try it out? :)

Thanks for your time!

Heya, just wanted to mention I sideloaded this to an Ouya and it works fine. Controls respond and everything.
Not pause but double tapping the menu button to open the Ouya menu will pause it, turn the music off and then force the "do you want to exit" prompt. So sorta pauses.
Other wise game runs fine and works fine on a TV screen (little overscan but thats normal)
You should consider porting an Ouya version perhaps.

I can't seem to get the mac version to run, and the .jar version simply won't open. The mac version (v1.5) simply warns me, "The file you are trying to open appears to be broken. Move to trash?"

sned hlep! The .jar file used to work!

Hey! Sorry, you're experiencing problems! If the .jar file used to work, maybe you did something to your Java environment? Or maybe try re-downloading? The game itself hasn't been updated in many months, so I don't think it is anything on my end that could cause that... sorry! :(

There is no standalone Windows installer. You'll need to use the Desura client, unfortunately. I provide a Mac standalone installer because there is no Desura client there.

Out of curiosity, why? Frankly, that's just a reason for me to not get this game, as I don't want to use the client, and hardly any other games on desura require it.

The reason is I can push out updates easier and players will receive bugfixes (almost) automatically.
But... if you're not a fan of the Desura client, just download the standalone Mac version. It contains a runnable JAR file that can be run on Windows (and Linux) as well. Double clicking it should be enough. Just make sure you have Java installed. :)

Thanks for the quick response. I've already found a way to solve this. I just downloaded the Game through the Desura client and then removed the files from it.

Und im übrigen, ein wirklich genialer Platformer!
Ich mag diese einfache und doch sehr charmante Oldschool Grafik. Inspiriert mich vielleicht selber mal ein Platformer zu entwickeln ^__^
