Polarium is an abstract puzzler with a simple premise. You must guide a glass cube along a set route of black and white tiles, whilst polarising the background to protect the cube from being destroyed. This intense and rapid gameplay mechanic, revels in the same class as classic SHMUP Ikaruga, but has the pacing of slower, cerebral games such as Portal.

epic

An interesting new idea, Polarium has a lot of potential going forward. Melding the color switching gameplay of Ikaruga with the block puzzles of EDGE, it's a neat combination that although simple on paper, becomes challenging once you start incountering blocks that only appear in one polarium, rogue blocks that attempt to destroy you, and different paths that require quick changes to stay alive.

Unfortunately in it's current state, Polarium feels more like a proof of concept than an actual game. You are only given a brief look at how the idea could pan out before it's ten levels are over. As it's free, I can't really knock it for a lack of content, but I do sincerelly hope that development continues onto a full game that expands upon what is already here with more levels and features. Right now, it's worth a look, but nothing to really write home about.

Could've been longer, was expecting another level after it ended

vry good

The soundtrack needs more cohesion; it feels like the elements are dischordant with each other.

Switching colors feels sluggish, like the debounce timer is too long. Similarly, holding space to start a level needs some work, since it auto-advances -- and likely auto-kills -- you once the level does start.

The game itself was really short; mainly, the last level felt like it was a "checkpoint" before moving on to another set of puzzles, only there was no other set of puzzles.

All this being said, this game was amusing and has pretty good potential. I hope the developers continue to refine it.

Is a interesting new puzzle game, because used a new form of game based, one touch and timing, maybe the concept work very nice in tablets and smartphones! :D
