I'm going to try the demo soon, it definitely looks interesting.

That said, am I the only one who had to think of "Flash Gordon" when seeing the cover image?

Here's one straight guy, who will buy and play this game. It looks like a fun game, and I don't mind the gayness. I've read Codename: Knockout, I've watched Modern Family, I have gay friends, I support gay marriage, and I reckon I can play this game. Congrats on making an unusual indie game, it's not easy.

If you have an apple, and then someone else gets an apple, it has no effect on your apple. I know it's a clumsy way of putting it, but the point stands.

This is a naive and incorrect view of the world.
If everyone is getting apples then it would appear they are in abundance. This devalues your apple.
What if the 'someone else' who got an apple was someone you wanted to sell an apple to? Now your business is ruined.
Just because they aren't directly affecting your apple doesn't mean there aren't other consequences.

The "apple" in this metaphor is your sexuality...which you're selling? In fact you've got an entire business selling apples? This is very upsetting.

As a gay man, I am EXTREMELY disappointed in the Desura community's reaction to this game. The game is well designed and fun. if you don't like gay storylines, then don't buy/rate a gay game. If you aren't the target audience, then stop being a bunch of whiny ********. You people who are calling this game ****** and complaining and freaking out for it being gay, are ******* way more prissy and sissy then I think any of the gay men you are insulting could ever be.

I tried the demo and it seems like a fun and witty game. The mechanics lack a little bit of polish for this genre, but on the other hand, a lot of effort has been made to make it more accessible and just generally less painful than these games can be, so it balances out.

All of the over-the-top 'gayness' is firmly tongue-in-cheek, so open-minded people shouldn't worry about it devolving into outright porn. It's really just a fun parody of Space Quest from an author just as geeky as anyone else.

PRO TIP: Read the Lift speaking in John Waters' voice.

And look, a wall of hate from homophobes, all of whom are dragging down the score of the game by giving it 1/10 in reviews. Fantastic.

We really need to revamp this review system here on Desura, and make it so only people who own the game can rate it. Too easy to troll developers who have clearly worked hard on a game. Homosexuality isn't a new thing people! If you don't like it, just don't play the game! Don't give everything a 1/10 to try and destroy them!

we should make a "reverse twitter" , all game ratings require a comment with a minimum of 140(or more ^^) characters. the ratings with a comment can be rated themselfe, and if enougth people disagree with a negative/positiv comment it should be ignored for the final score.

Now we as a comunity can manage the review system and a good game should always have enought fans to remove these 1/10 hate comments. It depends only on the implementation of the system.

This way we dont prevent people from rating a game who bought it on other stores like GOG, and force them to contact the devs for a desura activation, if it is not included in the release they have bought.

I hope something like this could work for the Desura admins.

Agree 100%. I think this should be brought to the attention of the Desura people.

I posted a thread about it on the IndieDB forums, but they're pretty hesitant to implement it at the moment.
