Developed by Japanese indie team Zenith Blue, Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae focuses on high-speed arena-based action. Use lightning fast sword slashes, hand-to-hand attacks and mysterious ancient techniques to defeat wave after wave of demonic foes. Use skill points to learn new skills, upgrade your abilities, and take on brutal bosses. Weaken your enemies with vicious wounds, then sheathe your sword to finish them off with style. Employ hand-to-hand techniques to build your katana gauge, then cut deep with your divine blade.

I completed this on normal and enjoyed my time with it. You unlock an alternate outfit for the main character for doing so. Has anyone bothered to go through on Hard yet? Anything new you see in hard that you'd miss on normal?

Pretty much different enemy patterns and you unlock a new costume.

The game isn't bad, and it's pretty much what I expected (wave-based hack and slash). My only real gripes with this game are the camera and PERFORMACE.

The fact that i get 20 FPS on this game with everything maxed out (@ 1080p) is pretty bad. The optimization is atrocious.

Ive played it and it isn't bad. Its very much just an Arena Beat em up. My only gripe is some of the control scheme things... For instance.. I prefer games like this using my 360 controller... which I'm playing with. However once you unlock some of the upper skills like that dash/horizonal slash it seems very difficult to use anything but that if you try to move around. The character is constantly using either the horizontal dash slash or the upward kick attack if I'm trying to run toward an enemy and attack them. You have to keep the thumb stick in the neutral position in order to use your basic combos... which frankly is just poor design. Gameplay itself isn't bad and it doesn't look as terrible as the screenshots show.

The content is simply just arena based combat that comes in waves. A Few of those waves there are quite a few enemies in the circular arena with you... others only a few. Your typical Huge boss battles after X number of waves and then a cutscene and more enemies.

Since people are fairly dense I'll actually be blunt with my question; would someone that actually bought this game please explain what type of content there is and how much replayability there is (if any)?

I own X-Blades and Blades of Time, and enjoyed them, but games like this on Desura tend to get a lot of good ratings just because of the screenshots. Not because of the actual gameplay.

i boought this game and i gave it a fair 7 out of 10. Misturygi Kamui Hakae would be more like a sort of OneeChambara but with no level exploration it s just horde arena battle with wave after wave until you beat the boss to advance to the next stage, the game is pretty simple and i assume it s a doujinshi (an amateur game).

The game at first glance will seem pretty redundant, but a beat'em up is redundant. The combo mechanics are not bad and is really pleasant to bash flunkies some are just color swap, but there is significant varrety in the mooks special skills.

The replayability would be more like jump in kicks baddies ***** and it s pleasant guilty pleasure.

You compared the game to xblades and blades of time, those game with Ayumi, is also based with exploration in MKH it just flghting and only fighting.

Actually played through a bit so far.

It's like a faster Oneechanbara; combos and specials seem to link up well enough. However, it's annoying when the enemies guard everything, so you have to rely on low attacks before you upgrade your attacks.

The game runs in waves instead of traversing the stage in a typical action game manner.

Obviously the graphics showcase a bit for being low spec; I'm not going to lie that the character models pop out, both the female lead and the enemies. I like the "indie movie" spec behind it.

Looking for anything new, well, it's a typical "action game with a female lead", for better or for worse. My only gripe is, for a "Stylish Crowd Fighter", it's a smidge tame. The soundtrack, when it comes on, is pretty neat.

Overall, what I'm saying is the game is pretty neat. I'd wish it'd be 9.99 instead at least, or at LEAST add a demo, but all in all, for those worried, there's some substance to it to not make it look like a "durr boobies" indie game.

Needless to say, I don't mind supporting this.

Also, I recommend a controller.

I was really actually more so defending the content of the game as I've visually seen it. Compared to X-Blades and such, it's pretty tame visually. Assuming the game isn't any fun due to the visual style is a mistake to many gamers make these days, for whatever reason. Most of these indie games on here, the first mistake you can make is to judge it visually.

This is actually a decently old game, the developers don't have a user account on here only a developer account and speak Japanese. So you will have to wait for a Desura user review or search Youtube, if you want some real feedback.
