The Ultimate Fighting Game for Kung Fu movie fans.

Kings of Kung Fu is passion project, a love letter to martial arts cinema, a project born out of a lifelong love of Martial arts films. These films were a major part of my childhood. I always wanted to see the best styles in Martial Arts films in one game. Imagine Jeet Kune Do style vs Drunken Boxing or Shaolin Hung Gar style vs Wing Chun. The possibilities are endless, and now for the first time ever you can see your favorite movie fighting styles in one game.

Last week I had some spare time and managed to create a new stage and character model. The stage is just a early draft. I just wanted to have the basic scene layed out to show the fans that there was new work in progress content being added to the game. It's been a pretty busy few weeks since the launch of the Kickstarter. I haven't had much time to actually work on the game but I did manage to start on this new stage setting up the basic composition , textures and lighting for the scene. I also managed to start on a new character. The White Stallion is the new fighter that's been added to the roster. I wanted his style to resemble traditional japanese okinawa karate. His animations aren't fully implemented in the game's engine yet but I hope to have that done by the end of the week.

Doing all this really has me excited to show more content for the game. I have alot of work to do still before the game can go into a playable alpha stage, but progess is coming along quite nicely. With the addition of the new figher there are now 16 characters officially on the roster. The new Rome stage has brought the number of stages in the game to 20. If any of you guys have any comments or suggestions feel free to post them.
Below is a screen of the Rome stage and a few other screen shots of the game.

I'm one month late in discovering this game :(, the Kickstarter campaign was already closed. I hope you will still continue this project. I don't want this to end up like Kung-Fu Superstar which looks really promising but was discontinued due to an unsuccessful Kickstarter project. Please push through with this project.

P.S. By any chance, can you include an Aikido character here ^_^

I understand it's early. Here what I take from it: Remove the Street Fighter style special effects (around the hands and feet while attacking). Looks very out of place, if anything, small dust clouds on impact would look nicer and fit the motif. Also, look into procedural animation and ragdoll effects. This game begs for it, like this (https://www.indiedb.com/games/toribash). The backdrops you have so far are well done. Great environment. 2.5D is is great style as well.

I agree... In the old school kung fu movies was that generally a blow would have no effect if blocked or dodged (so maybe no indication of impact)... but if a clean hit got in, there would a noticeable "thump" or "crunch"... more punctuated by dust, or reaction by the guy hit.
