Jake is a small kid who was touring an ancient temple with his family. Problem is, he's a curious kid and it didn't help that he got a free treasure map from a shady merchant on the street. He finds out how to get into the temple, and this is where the trouble starts.

Progress Update

Now we're getting into the more fun stuff. We've edited the level so that Jake can now move off the edge of the screen and pop up on the other side, like Pacman. He can also collect coin and oil. We came up with the oil idea after thinking about how to make this game harder as you progress through a randomly generated level. We naturally thought, well, if you go deeper down the temple, it should get darker...so like in Amnesia where you have to collect oil, you'll have to do that in JSG to see where you're going...and to know where the monster is! If you run out, well tough luck.

Another visible feature is the scoring system. It'll tally up how many coins you collect. The idea is that later we'll implement that Jake will get slower as he picks up more coins. For now, it's just a scoreboard.

And we've added special tiles. There are trap tiles that will slow you down if you walk on them, and booster tiles which will give you a speed boost if you step on them. This'll add to the strategic gameplay and strain your twitch muscles as you run out of oil, see the monster creeping in, and need to quickly decide where to go. Also, the level is now accelerating making it more difficult as you collect more coins.

There's a lot of collision bugs going on. We're trying to fix it.

A side: I showed our alpha to my 8-yr old sister and she shut me down by saying it looked boring. No love :(

Hey Walter!

Thanks for the feedback. We're totally new to Corona and Lua so this game is more of a phase for us to test out the different functionalities. That being said, here is what the general gameplay will be like (I think I described it somewhere but I forget where):

Jake will jump down randomly generated levels while carrying an empty chest.
He will collect coins along the way to fill up his chest. The more coins he picks up, the heavier and slower he will get.
There will be a monster following to eat him up.
If the monster gets too close, Jake can drop all his coins and run away.

It's more of a hybrid between pacman and free ski that will focus on perfecting the basics of addictive, simple gameplay. We'll retest it until the physics and AI are perfect and layer it with detailed art.

If you are looking for a story driven game, I'm sorry but this will not be the case :( Maybe if we had more time off our jobs and a better understanding of the platform it will happen in the future.

Hi, This seems like its going to be a interesting game, and is the style of the game be always like that? (Fall trough platforms all the time)
or you will add it extra stages with a different kind of gameplay of the levels?
(Im just saying because well I dont really want to judge you about this right now but humm i dont either want this game to just pass over the store and be played for one or two month and then stop being played you know :/) I like the style but i think it needs something else. Anyways I hope the best for you guys! :D
