You are Blind. Use echolocation to find your way through a broken city survive the radioactive waste land until rescue arrives. This game is a 2D puzzle platformer built with UDK. Set in a broken cityscape, explore with echolocation to survive and piece together the events that led to the cataclysm.
The game play is split into two distinct modals:
Story: this is a traditional immersible narrative with your character as he searches for answers rescue in the ruins of a mysterious civilization.
It is our intention to release these on Steam and the xbox marketplace
Arcade: these games are separate, modern app games designed to merge the ECHO worlds with any app game type such as an infinite runner etc. These will be released on mobile platforms.
Any suggestions on arcade styles are welcome and if we like them we will implement them and release them with the game, credit to you of course :)
ECHO is the umbrella game that my twin brother and I are using to make several app games. Imagine playing super Mario, but Mario was blind, it simply wouldn't work, what about fallout, or gears of war? to date every video game has focused on visuals as the most important thing, what you see is what you get, Echo is different, your player is blind and uses echo location to navigate through strange and dangerous worlds, a new light on gaming.
This process started early this year with the microsoft imagine cup and has been an intense few months of learning and no sleep, my brother and i had success in winning the national competition, but missed out on the world finals. We have continued on the projects and have got our first two echo games to the store, a full and lite version of a maze navigator, think kinda pac man but you're nearly blind.
Finals are tomorrow, we have been working until 3am for weeks to get ready for this.
So far this looks very original, keep it up
We will be regularly posting updates, and Increasing the immersion into the premise that you cannot see the world; increasing the use of sounds and your echo in effecting gameplay
Just looking at your alpha shots, I can see that you have a pretty interesting premise to your game. Please keep it up, and don't give up on it. I really look forward to watching your development. Good luck and keep up the unique work!
