Dereliction is a squad-based real-time strategy game, requiring a sophisticated mobile defence strategy for objective success.
The objective of the game is to get your soldiers from one side of the derelict space-ship to the other, moving from one airlock to the next. There you rest, refuel, reload and prepare to meet your opponents in the next level.
Dereliction: First Public Demo Release
The Dereliction Pre Alpha demo 01 is now on IndieDB! It if for PC & Mac! Download it today! Let is know what you think in the comments section.
Today is a big day. It is March 23, and our demo is public! Dereliction has been in development for a long time. Most recently we have gotten a whole lot done. It has been about 2 years of steady work, from scratch and the prototype to go off of, so its been a tough journey.
Here is a video showing the before, and the after:
So the demo is done. Its not quite perfect but we promised to have something today. So here it is, please go download it once its countdown is complete:
Here is a video showing my attempt at beating the demo. It should be a challenge, let me know if its not.
Lets start off with the squad, the player, you, are given 2 medium soldiers with Assault Rifles, good for medium and ranged combat. Next, you have Bull, a Heavy armored soldier with a LMG. LMG is more powerful and shoots more than an Assault rifle, but it eats up ammo quickly. It can either be used to take and hold a position, or hit and run tactics. But since Bull has heavy armor, he wont be moving around much. Flux, has a tactical shotgun, and grenades. You will probably be sending him to use most terminals. FInally, Taylor, with a Flamethrower. Tho she is at a low rank and new to a flamethrower, so she may do more damage to your team with it. That, and she has a handful of grenades too!
Well, good luck everyone! Please take a screenshot with your soldier in the exit and post it. Maybe record a video of an attempt, whatever you would like. We are really proud of what we have accomplished, and this first step is a big one. We hope to have a larger demo out soon.
If enough people complete this demo, I will put up another with a harder level :) Good luck!
I'm always told this saying: How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. The same goes for Game Dev I guess...
