It was always my intention to deliver Chaos Ride in three episodes. The episodic releases reduce the overall download sizes of each app, they allow me to respond to user feedback with each release, and (to be blunt) the planned scale of the full game is far beyond the resource of what I can deliver in a single release without a long development cycle.
Following the successful release of Chaos Ride - Episode 1, Episode 2 is now close to completion.
The second episode adheres to the same core gameplay as the first (using momentum to bend the laws of physics to your will, at high speeds, inside a long metallic tunnel, across five game modes and six tracks). However, Episode 2 features a more varied palette of environments. There are no cities in this one, but each of the tracks are distinctly recognizable in terms of their art styles.
Episode 2 also benefits from a deeper focus on level design. Each track has distinctive gameplay elements, with more adventurous design overall. For example, if the thought of flying upside down from a ramp over an erupting volcano sounds appealing, then you will like the new track layouts of Episode 2!
The estimated release date for Episode 2 is in the first week of August. However, the original Episode 1 is available now, for one dollar, from the following locations:
App Store
Google Play
To announce the imminent arrival of Chaos Ride - Episode 2, I have uploaded two screenshots, which can be seen here.
Will the Episode 2 be a separate app or will the content be added through an update? If I buy Chaos Ride now, would I get access to upcoming content?
It will be a separate app. But it will be enough new content to make it worth the money.
