A new Lite version has just landed on iOS, this version include 70 levels the players can play for free. We thought it as a trial version to increase the visibility of the game on the App Store.
The version you can download on the Google Play Store is quite similar but for different reasons.
On the Android devices, pirating rate is very high so unlocking the game with a single In-App allows us to limit the risk. Then we decided to offer only one application in order to centralize the downloads.
But the player can test the game for free and keeps his save when he changes to the full version. He doesn’t have to restart the game from the begining.
We have also chosen this model specifically for the Android version because on the Google Play Store most of the applications are free. Indeed Android targets a larger audience than iOS, often people with less money to spend.
What is also particularly difficult with the Android is to make the application compatible with the larger range of devices possible. With more than 6000 types of devices running and a limited compatibility to minimum the 4.0 Android version, what a challenge for only one coder and an indie team with very small means!
4/3, 3/2, 16/9 and 16/10 screens with resolution from 480x320 to 2560x1600, I let you imagine all the problems we encountered with the framing and the graphics resources packaging.
We had a particular tricky issue with the “Smart Cover” attached to some of the phones. We are actually not sure yet that the problem has been fixed. The phone switches into standby mode when the cover is closed and when you want to get back to your game, it’s frozen…
So don’t hesitate to contact us if you have some bugs with the current version of Bardadum: The Kingdom Roads on the Google Play Store. We always need feedback from the players.
We also know some people would like to play the game on the 2 and 3 versions of Android, but the application size (sound and high-resolution resources pack) forces us to use the OBB system, which isn’t compatible with the 2 and 3 versions of Android.
