I saw that in a few weeks it will be available on consoles as well, so it will have a bigger fanbase....my question is: is this version easier to mod?
To everyone! i recently uploaded an addon to Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition which lets you experience the original pre-rendered cutscenes and not the cartoony ******** that Beamdog tries to force up your throat.
You can check it out in BG:EE add-ons section or just checking the add-ons in my profile section.
Also, i'd like to credit all the work to Sam. from Spellhold Studios Modding Community, i'm just feeling the urge to share his work with all of you.
Nonetheless, you can visit the original post with this link and thank him personally: Shsforums.net
(which i'd rather prefer tbh)
I loved the old Baldur's Gate, but I'm curious is this update worth it?
Here's the big rub guys. You will have less mod compatibility. The upside is that the game is now . . .
1. More Stable
2. Multiplayer Actually Works (For people saying it does on the old game - go play a Cleric, Turn Undead, then get back to me)
3. Has a neat zoom function
4. A few custom additions not found in the old games/mods
I would say it is, because honestly - $20 is what? Three drinks at a bar? To hear people bitch about the cost is a little on the absurd side. If you like BG, get it. If you only like playing the old mods, don't mind instability (Beregost I look at you!), and generally hate change - don't get it.
this is like a dream come true i love the BG stuff.
I still havn't played Baldurs Gate, but with all the new enhancements, it looks even more amazing! I'm definitely getting this
An enhanced version of Baldur's Gate II is also planned. :-)
Hey feillyne, since you are always helpful, could you tell me if the enehanced edition is worth getting or should I just stick with my heavily modded version (that still runs pretty badly D:)?
On the other hand, Enhanced Edition adds new content (quests, areas, a couple of characters, GUI).
IMHO, it's inferior to BG Trilogy and BG big mods combined, but nonetheless can be worth getting after all.
Mixed feeling about the Enhanced Edition. Had problems with OpenGL drivers, plus gameplay (items, classes, etc.) seems to be a way poorer than BG modded.
Which modded version do you have?
Recommending Baldur's Gate Trilogy: Moddb.com
it merges two classics plus the expansion packs, all classes / improvements are available anywhere, etc.
Additional add-ons for it can be installed.
Thou you may need to poke around to get mods in the correct order - many of them seem to be slightly game breaking. Installed BG Trilogy + a few mods compatible with BG Trilogy, and no bugs/critical errors, so recommending them: Shsforums.net
Ok thanks. I might actually wait a while before replaying BG and then buy the Enhanced Edition dirt cheap on sale, when it's got some mods to make it better (I heard they improved mod support).
